In an interview with CorriereTV Alessandro Altobelli spoke about Inter’s transfer dealing so far this January:

“Mancini has clear ideas: He wants two wingers that will accommodate the 4-2-3-1 formation.  Lukas Podolski and Xherdan Shaqiri can help Inter do this.  I hope that Podolski can play like Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.  He [Rummenigge] was a great champion and is a great man.”

Altobelli played for Inter for 9 years before he left to join Juventus for one year.  The former Nerazzurri player spoke about his time at Juventus:

“I did not leave Inter to go to Juventus.  I had a contract for another year at Inter but I did not get along with the coach Giovanni Trapattoni.  Ernesto Pellegrini and I agreed to terminate my contract.”

Altobelli then went on to talk about the Derby D’Italia:

“The rivalry has gotten worse since 2005.  In my playing days the rivalry was huge but there was a lot of respect on the field.  There were fights on the pitch but the rivalry was always calm.  Many players played together for the national team after they played each other in the Derby D’Italia.”
