After beating Sunderland with 1-0 Lucas Leiva expressed his joy for the win. “Great win, thanks for everything.”

This has raised the questions amongst the Liverpool supporters about Leiva’s future. Inter has been interested in him for a long time.

If we’re really ready to pay 9 million for this guy. Instead of negotiate and sign preliminary contacts with players like Schar, Konoplyanka and Gignag wich contracts expires after less than six months, it will be huge mistake.
Well, yes, except Mancini really wants Lucas and he’d be able to help us out right away, where as these 3 can only arrive in the summer.
I’m personally not entirely convinced as far as Lucas is concerned, but I’ve learned to trust Mancini, especially after Podolski and Shaqiri.
Besides, considering the fact we’re not buying Osvaldo, there’s a decent chance we can still get Gignac. We’re losing Campagnaro at the end of the season, so Schar can still come in. Considering the fact they are all free agents it doesn’t change much, I’m sure Inter will do something when the time comes if Mancini likes any of them.
Btw, you’ve forgotten Ayew 🙂
Come on, doesn’t matter what Mancini wants 9 million is very, very much for this guy. We buy 23 old Shaqiri for 15 million. Mancini have at his disposal Medel, M’Vila, Kuzmanovic, Khrin, Obi and Taider on loan for the same position as Lucas Leiva, don’t you think that it’s too much crowded? Let’s first to offload them and then to think about replacement, but real quality replacement. Let imagine that we’re crazy enough to pay 9 million for him, what will gonna happen? If Mancini continues to insist on 4-2-3-1 Lucas must be a starter, then who have to sit on the bench Medel, who we brought before six months, Guarin with his huge salary or Hernanes, who we buy last winter for 17-18 million? I don’t wanna mentioned Kuzmanovic, M’Vila and even Obi. We don’t need this guy now. Nobody will wait for us, everybody can negotiate and sign preliminary contacts with them now, that’s why we have to put all efforts there.
No offense, but I think you’re viewing the squad too statically, you’re forgetting it’s a dynamic category.
I’ve read countless rumors these days that M’Vila will be leaving the club this month, and if not this month, that he will certainly not be bought out this coming summer. (that’s 10 million saved, btw, the money with which Lucas could be paid)
I’ve read that Kuzmanovic may be leaving the club, that’s probably 3-4 mil if it happens (and I hope it does).
Hell I’ve even read that we’re offering Guarin to PSG on loan to get Lavezzi on loan (unlikely, yes, but still…)
I’ve also seen rumors (these I don’t like) that we could sell Hernanes soon because of his fitness problems and the fact that he never really rose up to the money we paid for him. I wouldn’t like this to happen because I think he’s much better than Lucas, but it could, and we could invest the money elsewhere, because there’s still a lot of work to be done on this squad.
If we stay with Hernanes/Lucas/Medel as the main players in midfield (+ 1 of M’Vila/Guarin/Kuzmanovic, with Kovacic also there to possibly fill a hope when needed, some youngsters too etc.), we’re pretty good considering the fact that we’ve got 3 competitions.
I’m just saying there must be a reason Mancini wants him, I’m sure he will be trying to get rid of some of the current players to make space for him.
Yes I trust Mancio, he has been in EPL so 1000% he know Leiva quality. Maybe he see that Medel/Kuz/M’Villa quality is below Leiva in His system of play. Have seen PoldI and Shaqiri is the demand from Mancio I sure he had plan in his mind for Leiva. For Glory Inter.
we’ll see..
To be honest, Medel is proving quite useful and very good, but they’re a bit different (because while Lucas isn’t as physical and aggressive as Medel, he’s more intelligent and a bit better on the ball) and Medel can’t play all the games in 3 competitions all season long. We need rotation with quality players. Lucas offers just that.
Latest info says that Liverpool will definitely not let him leave unless they find an adequate replacement this winter, though, and it doesn’t look like they’re searching for one either.
Hmm..Seems he is on the way to Milan airport
Yes it was his last game with liverpool.
I Think So 🙂
