“When you win it’s a different story, but even against Napoli and Sassuolo we didn’t play bad. Empoli is the only game where we didn’t perform. After the Napoli game, this was another great performance”. This is what Roberto Mancini said to Sky after the 3-0 win against Palermo. “Now things are beginning to work out, we need to continue like this. Icardi’s non-celebration? I believe that he should celebrate because a goal is the highlight of a football game, however the important thing is that he scored. We are improving, the have always been doing very well in training and I felt bad for them”.

The ambition to always play the ball from the back created a few risks: how come? 
“Palermo’s goal scoring opportunity came from an error by Dodô. It was the same against Napoli: five counter-attacks against us caused by five bad passes. It should not happen, Dodô should never make an error like that. But it goes for everybody, not just him”.

How do you rate Guarin’s game?
“Guarin played well even in a two-man midfield. Sometimes he loses his composure, but he is good, he could always play. He made no major mistakes tonight”.

Which qualities do you want  from a defensive midfielder?
“Medel is perfect, because he covers a lot of space and also knows how to make passes. He is doing great”.

Brozovic is playing better and better.
“Everyone needs some time to adapt to a team and he still is not at his best. But he has great qualities and we are happy to have signed him. He can play with few ball touches and he can also make good runs”.

A three man midfield allows the players up front to concentrate more on what they do best, will you continue like this?
“I believe that the attitude is very important. Maybe we are more stable and have more options with a three man midfield, but we also did well playing the 4-2-3-1”.
