Inter’s Primavera side have booked their spot in the final of this year’s Viareggio Cup with a superb 4-0 win over Roma, avenging their defeat in the Coppa Italia a few months ago.

The match was played amidst heavy rain and proved to be largely void of chances in the first half as the players struggled with the conditions.

However Demetrio Steffe did manage to score in the 28th minute with a volley from 25 yards that skidded past Pop in the Roma goal.

The weather improved in the second half making it easier to play football and this is when Inter went up a gear.

Primavera manager Stefano Vecchi brought on Appiah in place of Camara on the hour mark and the move had an instant result.

Seven minutes after he came on the Ghanaian won a penalty and Roma defender Marchizza received a red card. Federico Bonazzoli stepped up to score and make it 2-0.

Barely a minute later Appiah got himself on the scoresheet as he pounced on a loose ball after Palazzi’s free kick.

Tensions rose as the game drew to a close and Roma were down to 9 men when Soleri received a second booking.

Appiah then won another penalty when he was fouled by Roma keeper Pop resulting in yet another red card with Roma down to 8 players. This time Appiah took the penalty and duly scored his second goal of the game to make it 4-0.

Inter will play Fiorentina or Hellas Verona in Monday’s final at the Stadio Anconetani where they will be looking to replicate their 2011 success and win the trophy for a 7th time.
