We have to improve on many things because we cannot afford to tie games like this. We did not have enough concentration, and we needed more determination when we were leading 2-0. We had to keep playing our game. We need to give away fewer chances and everyone from the strikers to the defenders need to help out in defense. I am confident for the return leg. I do not think that 3-3 is a bad result. Now we need to focus on Cagliari because it will be very difficult on Monday. ”

OMG. JJ and Ranochia were horrible yesterday.What an incredible display of terrible defending JJ had.
Everyone from the strikers and defenders must help out in defence!? That really doesnt help our faith in you JJ, why should the strikers help?

Mate, according to whoscored Rano gets an 7.8 while JJ get 6.9. Very dominant in aerial battle (Rano win 6 aerial & 7 aerial def, while JJ only get 1 & 2). On the tackle its really balanced between all the defender. Its a statistics based website so is quite objective. The problem with Interisti is Rano already on the bad side so he will gets blamed often. I realize that Rano have many weakness. but lots of Interisti only see who’s near the ball when we conceded but doesn’t see who’s out of position, who’s lost the ball, etc.
Rano gets critics even when he didn’t deserved. i remember in a match when Kovacic play like utter garbage and miss an easy pass, nobody comments. a moments later Rano also give a terrible pass and everybody start raging.
This match I defended rano a lot, and criticised kova a lot… but it’s safe to say that rano has brought all this heat against himself with his own hands… hope he plays like this every match though
1st goal:
Matthews make simple 1-2 pass and then sneak behind kuzmanovic that already fall, Santon cant catch up the speed and also didn’t try to tackle (where he is in good position to do it and technically he should) looks like he given up matthews to our centre back, Matthews aproaching penalty box and both Rano is on position to mark Griffiths (since he is closer) then our Campagnaro also try to mark the same guy where he should allert for someone come from behind.. And yes, seeing 2 defender marking Griffiths, matthews give the far pass where Armstrong comes from the middle and unmarked… Bang…!!!
2nd goal:
Like the game vs Napoli.. From simple throw in, not a single our player can cut it and the ball comes to the area where Ranochia is there marking an celtic guy and at the same time he should head the ball outside instead give a way to carrizo to catch it, and his poor decission lead to 50/50 chance where another celtic guy aproaching the wild ball, campagnaro aware of this movement and he did good job to keep close to his target, shame the ball touch his foot and lead to own goal.
3rd Goal:
It’s all started when Kovacic fail to clear the ball and simply give the ball to celtic guy in front of our penalty box and he decide to make lob pass to the strikers. We have 8 players stood watching another goal about to happen instead run backward to fill the penalty box and prevent the goal, and but yeah our backline decide to use offside line in a very crucial dying minutes… What an Idiot decission…
Whoscored is as biased as a statistics site can get. Stats are facts but final rating is calculated on their own formula, which can be really really wrong and unballanced. Guarin only had a few good matches and he is our best player according to that site, and Handanovič amongst the worst? The site, where a striker can score a penalty and get a higher rating than a midfielder who had the best game in their life. JJ was shit but Ranocchia was bad too. Ducking from a cross is what cost us the second goal.

Mentality is bad.. campagnaro is a mistake.. i think dodo is better. The result is already predict.. it is stupid result.. last minute dodo give rano a note.. maybe the notes said: we must to draw score….haha

Mazzari’s effect. They used to do that when playing with 3-man defence.
They need to work on this aspect. It’s frustrating to watch, game after game.

You know it’s been well over 3 months since Mazzarri was sacked. Pulling that card is no longer valid. Both are clumpsy defenders, especially Ranocchia. Juan Jesus does show glimpses of greatness from time to time though.

Sscond goal is campa’s fault and third was kova giving them the ball
Second goal was as much Campa’s fault as it was Rano’s. A defender should not duck when a cross comes in.
Lol didn’t think about that… hopefully murillo can change something… and JJ can learn how to position himself
I think JJ shows more quality but lacks experience. If we joined JJ’s talent and Rano’s experience, then we might just have a half decent defender. If JJ can improve his positioning, he could be decent for us, if not, there is really not much use for a decent defender who is never defending in the right position.
