Erick Thohir has been in contact with major sportsbrand Nike recently. After a meeting the the Indonesian Minister of Indstry, Saleh Husin, Thohir is looking to expand Inter and Nike in Indonesia. The Inter president said:
“The industry of sport is growing more and more throughout the world. I like Nike products, especially if they are made in Indonesia or Vietnam. We need to convince the big brands to make their products in Indonesia, because the conditions are favorable. We can talk with Nike, Adidas, and other global companies. Of course, they would have great opportunities in Indonesia.”
Thohir then went on to speak about Inter’s fantastic growth:
“Inter has grown 15% in a year, 19% in Asia, and 8% in Europe. There are 263 million Interistis around the world. Indonesia has the third most Inter fans in Asia, behind Japan and China with 13 million.
A reported asked Thohir about the possibility of producing Inter jerseys in Indonesia:
“That is not the problem, because our deal with Nike is a global one and Indonesia is a small part. The important thing is that Nike should focus on producing products in Indonesia rather than China or Vietnam.”
Thohir also spoke about the Indonesian market:
“Not many people know us, because we have more than 200 million people here. So Indonesia must begin to take the lead and have meetings to discuss possible investments. We have direct competition, such as Thailand and Vietnam.”

If i play futsal, 2 out of 10 people i’ve meet is wearing Inter’s shirt (even they’re not Interista).. If i hangout around my neighborhood, still easy to found peoples wearing things related to Inter (even i know most of it fake, yeah you know most of us cant afford for the authentic)..
And in Indonesia, we have 2 major fan base (Inter Club Indonesia/ICI and Indonesia Nerazzurra/IN). I am part of IN, since i was one of the founder of IN distretto Malang City (Malang Nerazzurra).
What i really want to say is.. The hype still on even a bit under shadow, what we need is continous win, the silverware at least winning something so they can keep acomodate other people’s passion about Inter. In economic side, if Inter’s performance not getting better, i’m affraid this fan base won’t survive, because our organisation financially lies from our member’s contributions, seriously i know how hard it is to make keep this organisation run with all the limitation, we gather coin so we can have money for our activity since we don’t have sponsors, they’re are nomad but always have bills to pay. If Inter’s keep losing, no one comes to see the game, if less people comes, the owner of coffe show/cafe won’t continue to give us place to watch Inter’s game (since he got no profit from this deal).
This is hard man.. People who did this without getting payed is because they’re pure passion about Inter.. Oh ireally miss all my friend..
Hello Malang Nerazzurra…!!! Ronnie say hi.. Really miss you guys..
Before we get carried away with those pretty amazing figures what exactly does the phrase “Inter has grown” mean? Our fan base? Our income? Our profits?
all of them have been grown
Say what you will about Thorir, but stats don’t lie. 15% in Asia and 8% in Europe IN 1 YEAR is amazing. Road to becoming self sufficient is slowly becoming a reality.
All that in 1 year!? You sly Indonesian bastard! I can kiss ya but I wont (*○*)
That’s a solid improvement in just 1 year! This guy means business! Keep it up ET
