An impressive Inter dominated yesterday’s match against Cagliari at the Stadio Sant’Elia in Sardinia which can is ilustrated by the ratings below. Above you can compare the Gazzetta dello Sport ratings with SempreInter.com’s.
Do you agree? Discuss below in the comments section.
30. Juan Pablo Carrizo – 6,5: Was a giant in the 2nd half when Cagliari were pressing. However, gives all Interisti a heart-attack every time he goes to catch a cross.
14. Hugo Campagnaro – 5: Is the first choice on the right due to lack of quality & doesn’t exactly provide any quality either. That tells you all you need to know.
15. Nemanja Vidic – 7: If Nemanja Vidic is fit then Nemanja Vidic should play. An absolute towering presence in the defense who rarely puts a foot wrong.
5. Juan Jesus – 6: Didn’t have the best of games as he made some mistakes which he rarely makes. Has raised his lowest level which is impressive.
21. Davide Santon – 6: For the first time in 5 years Inter have a full-back that can deliver quality crosses into the box. Ran tirelessly up 6 down the left flank.
18. Gary Medel – 6,5: Is currently thriving since he’s surrounded by such great players. Showed great vision when assisting Icardi for his goal.
13. Fredy Guarin – 6,5: Wore the captain’s armband & played like a captain. Showed will, determination as well as true leadership qualities.
77. Marcelo Brozovic – 6: The love child of Dejan Stankovic & Thiago Motta continues to play as if he’s done nothing but play Serie A football for past decade.
10. Mateo Kovacic – 7,5 (Man of the Match): What do you do when you’ve been dropped for 3 matches due to poor form? If you’re Kovacic you go out & dominate the midfield.
11. Lukas Podolski – 5: Impossible to give him a higher rating due to the amount of clear cut chances he squandered in the first half.
9. Mauro Icardi – 7: Is an absolute assassin in the penalty area, scored a great goal. Showed today that there’s more to his game than goalpoaching.
22. Dodó – No rating: Came on in the 81st minute for Podolski. Didn’t play long enough to be able to be marked.
88. Hernanes – No rating: Came on in the 83rd minute for Brozovic. Didn’t play long enough to be able to be marked. Hit the bar with a magnificent shot.
17. Zdravko Kusmanovic – No rating: Came on in the 92nd minute for Kovacic. Didn’t play long enough to be able to be marked.
Roberto Mancini – 6: Got the starting 11 & tactics spot on from 1 st minute but waited far too long to make any changes when Cagliari were pressing.
Referee: Paolo Mazzoleni – 5: Missed a lot of clear free-kicks for both teams. Inconsistent level of officiating changing the level which confused the players.
Inter – 6: Despite failing to make chances pay in the first half, the team managed to transform their dominance into goals immediately in the scond half. Looked shakey at times but managed to wether the storm. Finally able to take that long awaited 3rd consecutive win in the Serie A.

Emmm.. Kovacic was not that great. Medel had as many key passes as Mateo had but produced more significant passing completion rate
your rating is a big joke, have you even watched the game rating man, you rate performances not potatoes
Agree with anonimac formation
if spaletti, ancelotti, conte, capello and lippi would come back to train juve, milan, napoli and roma, serie a would soon be the best league again
I have witnessed the deterioration of Serie A for the last 15 years or so. If it took us 15+ years to get to this low level, I doubt it is going to take less than 10-15 yrs to be back to the top. It will require more than just good coaches.
i agree, but i think things are going in the right way. Biggest clubs are planning new owned stadiums. Clubs are already attracting new investors, with good coaches with names league would attract top players, example mancini with inter. If other clubs would have long term plans like Thohir, things would be much better in short time. And one for sure-Berlusconi needs to sell the club
Santon deserves a better rating
Against Fiorentina I would LOVE to see:
————–Handa———
Santon-Vidic-JJ-D’Ambro
Guaro—-Medel—-Brozo
————Kova————
——-Shaq—–Icardi—–
*with Shaq playing slightly behind Icardi. I think this is the best we’ve got right now, but I doubt Mancini will bench Rano again, and also I don’t think he would leave both Podolski and Palacio on the bench even though they are just not good enough at the moment.
Switch D’Ambro and Santon
Nope… I don’t know why most Inter fans are deluded.
The rating for Kovacic is pretty much unjustifiable.
Kovacic did nothing yesterday against Cagliari. Physically, he is NOT ready to play behind the strikers in this league. He lost every physical battle against ALL Cagliari midfielders yesterday – he was particularly 2nd best against Crisetig. He was harried off the ball left, right and center every now and then.
He was completely non-existent in the middle of the pack, hustled off
the ball too often, lost every 50-50 challenge to Cagliari midfield
players.
He still can’t keep the ball and attack the spaces properly without losing possession far too cheaply. The boy still has a pretty long way to go if he is to play behind the strikers…
The only thing he has on his time is time. He should bulk up (do a lot of work in the gym in the summer as he is too light weight for my liking).
He needs to learn when to run with the ball and when not to; he needs to be aware of the situation around him, take less touches and make the opposition do a lot of work to win the ball off him.
In short, he is not ready for the prime time behind the strikers.
You forgot that he scored a goal. But beside that you are pretty much right. He needs to find a way to impose himself in the midfield.
agree
He was creative, scored a goal and after all, he was named MVP of the match yesterday. His passing was awesome, he deserves to play before both Palacio and Podolski. What did Podolski do yesterday? Miss 3 awesome chances and then gone invisible in the second half? Palacio started to score goals but he still doesn’t convince me, he is not in form. So any one of them is pretty much useless. On the other hand, Icardi would get into chances more easily with both Kova and Shaq behind him, who deliver awesome passes while Medel, Guarin and Brozo do the dirty work behind them.
I think the whole team was okay and kova shined in some moments, but you’re right, if it was shaq playing there it would have been a thousand times better
