It’s a Champions League night and a stellar meeting between Manchester City and Barcelona is on the program. An ex-player of both teams, Sylvinho spoke to Goal.com not only about the game at the Etihad Stadium, but also about his new experience as assistant to Roberto Mancini: “This season is better than the last one for City. The Champions League is different from the Premier League, last year they did well, but this year the team is in better shape and the future will be even brighter. I am sure that they have learned from last year’s experience. I didn’t want Barcelona and Manchester to face each other because I wanted them both to go as far as possible, it’s a wide open and difficult affair for both teams. City can create problems for Barça, but I think the Spaniards are slight favourites. I have great memories from my time in Manchester, when I arrived there was a lot of work to do to change the mentality in the locker room and bring in players with a winning attitude. The work we did was excellent and it is still in progress”.
After the analysis of tonight’s CL clash, the Brazilian spoke of his new experience with Inter: “I am enjoying it a lot. I have worked as an assistant manager for three years in Brazil, and then I received the invitation from Roberto. He is a great coach and a great person who I am learning a lot from. The work here is similar to what we did at City. Again, it is not a thing you can do overnight, but we are working on changing the mentality step by step, changing the players’ way of thinking with the target of making Inter a strong club on an international level as it has been, even in recent history”.

Being a Nerazzuro has nothing to do with his skills as an assistant.
This is really comforting to hear as a fan.
