The “Gazetta dello Sport” has published their online edition and took some time to reflect on the match between Wolfsburg and Inter in Germany today. According to the online paper, Inter began the match strong and went up though a Palacio goal but then Wolfsburg took the initiative and made the most of a Juan Jesus error, as well as two howlers from Carrizo.
The news source also took issue with Roberto Mancini and criticized the coach for insisting on starting Carrizo. Moreover, they were not impressed with bringing on Vidic and moving to a 5 man defence, saying that it flattened the team while the match was in the balance.

What’s everyone complaining about? Wolfsburg is second place in the Budesliga facing an Inter team who at one time was 13th place in a weakened serie A with a 70 million payroll + 7 mill a season for coaches. Inter has 4 wins on the road this season so let me ask 1 question……..is there one fan out there that actually thought that inter had a chance of winning this game ? i mean look at inter in serie a….did they beat Juve? NO ! Did they beat Roma ? NO did they beat Napoli? NO did you really expect Inter to beat a 2nd place in bundesliga when inter can’t beat a top team in Serie A ?? Inter’s defense if awful, yes it’s really really bad so accept it, suck it up, stop pointing fingers at certain players and accept that inter got beat fair and square.

we are to inconsistent and any team can score against Inter but when we look at what inter can produce during a match we can see that inter are capable of playing very good football much batter than that of Wolfsburg who are scoring from opponent mistakes almost auto- goals they can not create one action during a match
inter’s defense is not inconsistent it just sucks ! clearly this is the biggest area to improve on. Clearly Ausilio needs to get working on it now.

I struggle to understand why a Juventino keeps reading and commenting on this site and making idiotic comments. Yes, Inter got beat fair and square. It wasn’t the ref who decided the outcome. However, people are pissed because one single player basically cost us the game. Based on how the game developed, a lot of fans out there actually thought Inter had a chance to win the game. I mean, Palacio basically missed a penalty that would have made it 2-1 to Inter, and you’re sitting here writing “hurrr durr, do you actually thionk you had a chance hurr durr.” Moron.

I do agree. In the first goal, Juan is not marking anyone, while Rano mark Dost. He should read the player that coming. The second goal is the error of Carrizo and Juan. I don’t understand why Juan stand far away from the penalty box. Maybe he think its 3 mens defense. The third goal, it is a briliant strike from Byurne. Yes, Mancini should bring on Vidic.

Mancini has proved that he does not has european pedigree. Since he managed Inter on the first term, until now, he always fails in european competitions. We just hope that he will stabilize Inter’s league form.

IMO, the very first thing Mancini should have done after Shaqiri was struggling on the right flank was to change him with palacio. If this hadnt work he should have put him as a trequartista and push palacio forward. MAncini was very afraid yesterday, but we all saw that Wolfsburg’s defence makes too many mistakes. Though it is a great team when attacking. The other thing that pisses me of is that Mancini usually makes too late subs and this time he made the first too early. Hernanes should have played 10-15 minutes more regardless how tired he was.

Its too easy afterwards to criticize Mancini for using Carrizo. No one could have foreseen such errors. But what concerns me more is how the defense time and time again create these situations. Not only in this match, but also very often in previous games, the back four end up passing the ball around between them with no clue what to do with it. Sometimes one of them just ends up kicking it away to an opponent and other times they pass it back to the keeper, creating these dangerous situations. The more they pass it around without going forward, the more they allow the opposing team to apply pressure and very often win the ball. Complete waste of ball possession on our side. The defense need to learn how to play the ball forward to get out of these situations, not play it back. And the midfield need to help out as well. … Big sigh…. Its very hard to be an Inter fan these days, but come rain or snow, just gotta love this club anyway …. Forza Pazza Inter

Every time I watch the defense play the ball side to side I star to worry. It appears the wide defense have been discouraged from dribbling. Dbrozo, Santon, and JJ often dribbled in previous seasons. Furthermore, Medel can’t be the only one daring a linking pass with the Midfield. We missed Brozovic – he assists with this assignment. … next tourny.

Tactics aside , the wolfs had superior endurance. In the end it was their fitness that defeated Inter.
Mancini bring on Vidic to play more defensive and secure 1 points (that’s logic), but then time prove him wrong because taking out Hernanes make our midfielders loose and it was not balance game anymore. The worse thing that wolfsburg 2nd goal coming, but i believe in his mind 2-1 is also fine since we have 1 away goal, the second disaster coming (3rg goal). He want to score another goal and he bring Kovacic that already to late to make impact.
I think i am sure he was not expecting wolfsburg 2nd and 3rd goal. But thats football, when he have high hope to the players, then shit happen. I remember under Strama we lost 3-0 to tottenham in london, and we turn the situation around in Milan 3-0 eventhough we lose 4-1 in extra time with lest better squad.
there is no logic trying to secure a draw after only an hour mark! that’s show how incompetence RM at coaching. RM himself said that games are play for 180 mins. he obviously forget about the last 30mins that lead Wolfsburg to capitalized. I say it was the midfield area that he had supposed to reinforce by bringing an extra holding midfielder because Medel has grown tired chasing after the balls and Guarin becoming sloppy trying to hold down the midfield area. He could have gone 4-4-1-1 instead of back 3.

after he made that retarded substitution we lost complete possession. …Inters defence is a disaster wether youre defending with 4. 5. 6 or 7 defenders….what was working was the pressure we made on wolfsburg just like the first half…everything was working….but to start defending that early was a huge mistake…and to substitute hernanes inparticular and not Guarin wad a bigger mistake…we needed to keep the ball as long as possible..not to give them the ball n start defending. …

For me, Carrizo’s starting spot is not mistake, because Mancini couldn’t know that he’ll be total flop. But the substitute Vidic-Hernanes was a suicide. Taking out a creative playmaker instead of CB and you just give up the possession and the center control. If he wanted to control the game, he could have replaced Shaquiri / Guarin with Kovacic.

There was no chance for 1-1 with approach like this. Wolfsburg is very offensive team and the germans always playing up to the last second.So you couldn’t expect to resist 30 min with such a defensive play. Everybody’s blaming Carrizo, but nobody asks why he mistook for the second goal. I’ll tell you why. Because Mancini pulled our team too deep and due to the “genius” sub, there was nobody capable to move the ball through Wolfsburg;s high press.
Then i am not… For me Mancini didn’t expecting such outfit after he subbed hernanes, that’s all.

Mistakes always happened, most important thing is to learn from and not repeat them over and over again. In my humble opinion the problem with Mancini is his attitude, his mindset playing too cautious with thought not to lose. And despite he’s italian, he have serious tactical problems and can’t make adjustments. Anyway we as a fans have to support our team and our coach no matter what. And keep the faith in our management, that things with time will start getting better.
that is the problem, we don’t have much more time. RM should have come up with a positive approach and could been more brave to actually play out Wolfsburg, not conceding for a draw after an hour mark. Revert to playing back-3 sums his ill-prepared night. Questionable tactics and negative approach is how i see it.

Hernanes… was not helping Santon defending. He looked good when he had the ball. But how many times did Wolfsburg created attacking chances from inter’s left side? They were passing Santon far too easy, and Hernanes was not helping. Mancini did the substitution and switch to a 5 man defense so that JJ could help Santon and to some degree Vidic could help DAmbrosio because Wolfsburg were killing us from the bands. I didn’t work because of individual errors from a couple of players, but that is another story, that is not Manicini’s fault. Look at yesterdays bench for Inter. Another option would have been to switch to a 4-4-2 with Kuz or Dodo replacing Hernanes… And honestly, I think that could have been worst. But who knows. It is easy to criticize now that the game is over. Le’ts stop trashing Mancini for his decisions, please. I agree that playing Carrizo was very risky, but who knows maybe he was asked to play him or maybe he was trying to show inter management that we need to renew Handanovic or get a good replacement not matter what.

Guarin has been a revelation with Mancini. He has produced more than any other player in the last 8-10 games. You mention his low performances in two particular games, but what about the others games. If Guarin has one thing that any other player in the team lacks today is the ability to change a game with one play. As a coach of a real team (not fifa 15) you dont sub a player Early in a game because he is not having a good day. About Mancini being a Genius, read my previous post. I didnt say so.
