After scoring two goals and setting one up against Empoli, joint top goalscorer Mauro Icardu spoke to Inter Chanel:
I knew that I tied Luca Toni as top scorer today. I would like to thank the coach for his complements. Today our main objective was to win, but after the first goal, the boys wanted to set me up so I could find the back of the net. I would like to congratulate Toni who despite his age, continues to do well every year. Our goal was to win, then help me score. When I was through on goal I passed to Rodrigo and got the assist. I might have not scored, so I let him finish. My best goal this season? It was probably the disallowed goal against Cesena. Every goal is beautiful for a striker. The national team? My time will come. Now I am going to relax.”

For all his skill and talent, one thing that really stands out for me is Icardi’s maturity and professionalism at such a young age, summed up when he passed to Palacio for the first goal. We finished 8th and our striker was co top scorer, Imagine how many goals this guy will score if he has a team around him brimming with confidence and playing a controlled attacking game. Cannot wait for next season. Your move Ausilio…..make us believe again
oh but his miss in the second half was an epic fail
Ask Mancini to teach you how to do first time volley properly
Maybe get some lessons from Poldi, I hear he is pretty good
Just remember Mauro that u have to improve for 100 percent cause with the number of chances u wasting we will not be able to compete for CL next year that is of course if we can build a team for that this season. You truly have potential but top-class goal scorers don’t miss this much.
Some chances u waste are just shameful indeed. So work harder or do whatever you have to do but u start being more efficient man or else i would be happy if we sold u for 40 or 50 millions.
He’s only 22… people are quick to forget that.
More efficient is an interesting word…well 22 goals and 6 assists. 28 goals cause of him (best in serie a). Oh and btw under 23 he is second highest scorer in all the world after neymar. So I think you should replace the word more efficient with i love you icardi and get more efficient team members for him!!
In terms of opportunities he has had all season long he really has to be more efficient because the whole team played for him, he was the main attack point so he got the majority of the balls inside the box but his conversion rate sucks and so does his decision making.
In this season if he hadn’t done some amateur things like against Juventus we would have probably been sitting comfortably in the 4th or 5th spot, who knows maybe even more..
And i know he’s 22 folks but he ain’t playing for a club that intends to be in the middle of the table, he is not playing for Torino, Palermo or whatever. So if he wants to be a key player of Inter he has to improve because regardless of his numbers he has lost us points many times this season.
And don’t get to me with his 22 goals and 6 assists because he after all is a striker so he is supposed to score obviously and if he had done wiser choices he would have more than these 22 goals and assists.
And i’m not ever replacing that with ” I love you Icardi ” because regardless of his 22 goals we’re on the 8th place so that reminds us that football is about a team not about an individual because after all Tevez with only 20 goals is a champion of the league and the cup and can be champion of the Europe too.
P.s.
How comes the second highest scorer under 23 years old is not even being talked about some transfer deal. It’s not all about the numbers folks. He can be masterpiece i give u that, but for the moment he has a long way of improvements to get there.
And i love only Inter and those who are worthy of Inter. The likes of Zanetti,Cambiasso,Samuel, Milito etc. So when Icardi proves to be worthy of Inter i will say that myself. Thank u 🙂
Yay at least they went on a win. Hope Icardi stays, great season for him. I think a season without CL and UL could actually help inter. Being able to just focus on seria a
still not
Spoken like a professional. Respect for this kid – next year I want to see him standing next to shaq and falque and hopefully he’ll be the target man every game
has he signed new contract yet?
Still, but the negotiations are going well – we shouldn’t be hesitant to give him a good salary
