Mario Suarez’s future at Atletico de Madrid is currently uncertain. The Spanish midfielder is not in Diego Simeone’s plans, and is eager to leave the club. Inter are interested in Suarez, and have proposed the Inter formula to Atleti: loan with a mandatory redemption fee. FcInternews.it reports that Atletico are hesitant in loaning Suarez, and want to sell the player outright. If a team purchases the player, then they will have to pay all of the cash within 60 days. In a bid to lower the price, Inter could use technical counterparts.

Who else can we expect?
Inter offering technical counterparts smells like we’re gonna try to give them Shaqiri and ask for cash + Suarez in return.
It also improves the chances of Shaqiri accepting to leave so that we can go after Perisic and Salah, since Atleti will find it much easier to convince him than Stoke did.

So it’s not new for him not to know when to stop. 🙂
This doesn’t really apply to us, we really need another midfielder, especially a more defensive-minded one.
Hopefully once he arrives we’ll try to sell Guarin.
Kondogbia and Medel are defensive midfielders, Guarin also played in that position for a time. Why do we need more, how many would we field.
Hmm, well, Kondogbia is more of a defensively skilled midfielder (as a type of player) than he is a defensive midfielder (as a position and role he plays on the pitch).
He played most of his games for Monaco in central midfield, because apart from his defensive qualities, he is also very good technically (a bit more defensive version of Pogba and Yaya Toure).
Now, Mario Suarez is very similar, but the contribution that he could make as a central midfielder is nowhere near that of Kondogbia.
Guarin’s concentration levels and his work rate for 80 minutes of each game makes him unfit to protect the defense.
I believe we’ll have Medel and Suarez in the DM position (actually, it will be a MC position, but one of them will have the role of staying back and tracking back to cover the defense); Kovacic and Hernanes in the midfield playmaker role and Brozovic and Kondogbia in the 3rd spot – as hard working box-to-box midfielders.
I’m hoping Guarin will be sold, not giving up to the last day 🙂
The way things are going with the incoming transfer rumors, it seems that Mancio wants to play with two wingers and Icardi as a lone striker. Shaq and Perisic might be the starters on the wings. Hernanes should be solid on his old spot behind the striker. That leaves two spots for CM and a DM or two DM’s. Which, I presume, will be left for Kondogbia and (I hope) Kovacic (Medel more likely). That means Brozo, Guarin and Medel/Kovacic will be warming the bench. Actually Hernanes too if we get Salah.
I don’t mind Suarez, he’s a great player, but if it all backfires next year we’ll have to do the biggest yard sale ever and sell most of our stars. We’re starting to risk too much, I prefer being a little more cautious.
Also, yeah, Guaro should go.
Hmm there’s a difference between us in that I set out from the presumption that we’ll be predominantly playing 433 next season, whereas you seem to believe that it will be 4231 🙂
I think that 433 is the safer option for now, though if we play one we are also capable of playing the other, considering that, as you’ve mentioned, Hernanes spent the last couple of games handling the AMC position quite well.
Now, as for who would play – I believe that our midfield is a bit unbalanced with Kondogbia/Kovacic, and very unbalanced with Kondogbia/Medel (0 vision).
This is why I expect us to play 433 more – because a midfield of Suarez/Kondogbia/Kovacic would be more balanced.
The picture shows what I’d like the squad to look like and what seems to be the plan right now (in my opinion).
For the love of god, Ranocchia’s name in the team burns my eyes. 😀 This looks a pretty solid squad. Only saddens me Hernanes doesn’t have a place in this. I really like him as a person and a player, but I’m pretty sure it’ll come to a point where it’s either him or Kovacic, and the latter is the future.
I only put Ranocchia there because he still hasn’t been stripped of the armband, and I’d expect him to play relatively much if he keeps it, perhaps even more than Murillo (unfortunately).
As for Hernanes, I like him too, especially seems like a very good guy – but to be honest, he was shit while playing in midfield. Perhaps if Mancio plans on using 4231 occasionally he could play behind the striker (he was good there at the end of last season, while Kovacic didn’t show too much there when Mancio first arrived).
