Inters new Colombian defender Jeison Murillo has been presented to the media today in a press conference at the club’s pre season training camp in Brunico.
General manager Marco Fassone introduced the Colombian:
“He’s a player that our scouts had been widely following and we reached the definitive agreement in January. He bought into our project and confirmed his talent during the Copa America. He wanted to come here straight away, without any holiday, and that speaks volumes about his professionalism. I wish him all the best at the club.”
It was then time for Murillo’s first words as an Inter player:
“Being part of Inter is fantastic. It’s a club with great history and tradition. I’m here to give my all and I’m really happy to have this extraordinary opportunity.”
“I gave up my holiday because as soon as I had my future sorted the only thing I wanted was to get to the training camp and start working. I’m delighted to be here and can’t wait to get started. I consider myself a warrior, my job is to give 100% for the club that’s given me this chance. I’ll give every droplet of sweat I have for this shirt.”
Do you expect to form a partnership with Miranda?
“We’ve played on the same pitch before but for opposing sides. We’ll see what our characteristics are but it’s up to the boss to decide. I’ll fight to earn a starting spot and will work hard to achieve that goal.”
Your thoughts on playing in this year’s Copa America?
“It was a privilege to play against Messi because he’s one of the best players in the world. I’m pleased to have been able to represent the national team but now I’m in Italy and I’m focused on Inter. I’ve noticed that there is a big onus on tactics here.”
How do you feel about being compared to the likes of Ivan Cordoba and Fabio Cannavaro?
“Obviously it’s nice to be mentioned in the same breath as great players like that, but each player wants to forge their own path. I want to improve and learn every single day. My strengths are speed, timing and tactics.”
Finally, what number will you wear at Inter and why?
“I’ve chosen the No. 24 shirt, because it’s the number I’ve always worn since I’ve been playing in Europe and in Colombia we believe it brings good luck.”

Yeah don’t get too excited, who knows maybe in the next transfer windows you will be sold cheap like Shaq..
Mancini please don’t treat him like you did shaq…
Shaq and Poldi.. Who knows the future hold..
Shirt no. 24?? Hmmm, it reminds me to our legend from Colombia..
please don’t be rivas 2.0 … :’)
He is also a Marco Branca approved player 🙂
and don’t forget the one and only. the forsworn vratislav gresko :/
What a great player Gresko was – the red card machine ! Definitely a Marco Branca approved player 🙂
You know Mancio’s logic will be to keep him on the bench while we grind our teeth watching our dear captain fail time and time again. Hope I’m wrong.
haha was just about to say this. we really need to trim the fat in the CB area. too many players. looks like andreoli is most likely to leave but that is not enough. Rano was complete shit last year, I don’t know how he keeps getting called up to the national team but I swear that’s the only reason we keep him around.
He’s actually pretty decent when he plays for Italy. Which annoys me even more. I swear he got worse when we gave him the captain’s armband. His weak mentality doesn’t fit this new team.
watch last friendly game of italy where he played then tell me he is decent 😀
let’s be logical here. the first cb we should sell should be juan jesus. we’ve seen ranocchia with italy and vidic. he was pretty decent.
Juan has the same terrible decision making as Rano, but at least is fast and strong. I’m sick of watching Rano get outjumped and beaten in the air by guys half his size. He can’t even use his height. He should go first.
i disagree. juan might be fast but he’s not as agile as ranocchia. he rarely goes to make a sliding tackle. he moves like a 35 year old cb . lets be honest here, ausilio offered ranocchia to wolfsburg and they were said OK. but he previously offered juan jesus and they rejected it. what gives you a clear indication is that juan when partnered with a decent partner he sucks. ranocchia partnered in the NT or with vidic shows his true class. not saying rano is class. both bad. but one is worse than the other.
Ya man, I agree. maybe the pressure just got to him. it also seems like he was only captain on paper, no one listened to him. I remembered when he tried getting the team to go salute the supporters and everyone just walked away from him. That’s gotta mess with your head too. but he sucks now. and we have sooooo many CB’s.
Really glad we got him. And really good that we had a deal in January for 8m, because his price almost doubeld after Copa America. Voted best young player of the tournament. I hope he can perform like that in Serie A.
You are right Zoki ^_^
If his form is anything like it was in the Copa America then I’m looking forward to his performances with us.
