It has definitely been an eventful mercato week for Inter fans. I will be going over the highs, lows, and main talking points regarding Inter that have emerged over the last seven days.
Inter need to strengthen their attack. Mancini has requested attackers, and attackers he will most likely get. A whole host of names have been linked with Inter, most notably Stevan Jovetic, Mohammed Salah, Ivan Perisic, and Dries Mertens, while there has been ample talk about Xherdan Shaqiri’s potential exit from Inter. The Nerazzurri begun their search for a left-back and have identified certain players who could fit the bill.
In terms of players coming in, Inter have not officially signed any player. However, the Nerazzurri have made great steps in acquiring some of their top attacking targets. Sources such as Sky, Il Corrierre Dello Sport, and Premium Sport are currently reporting that the deal for Ivan Perisic is down to the final details between Inter and Wolfsburg. The fee will likely be around 18 million euros, and Inter are close to bringing in a winger who can cross and shoot with both feet. However, before reports have stated hat a deal is in place, Wolfsburg’s sporting director Allofs stated that the German Club are not a selling club. It must be taken into account that the reports emerged after Allof’s words. Personally, I think that Perisic is a fine player that could help Inter a lot. Many are arguing that 18-20 million euros is a hefty sum for the Croatian, but I would argue that you have to overpay for players when you are out of Europe. Since Inter do not have the financial power of many Champions League clubs, the club must take risks on players who have the potential to improve the level of the squad in the long term. Talks have been ongoing for some time now, and hopefully it will all pay off. Overall, I think that Perisic is a player that Inter need, and I want to see the deal closed as soon as possible.
Another player that has been heavily linked with a move to Mancini’s side is Stevan Jovetic. The Montenegrin has had a torrid time at Manchester City, with his time blighted by injuries and competition for starting places. Now, sources such as Sky, La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Il Corrierre Dello Sport, and many more are reporting that Inter have reached an agreement to bring Jovetic to Italy: a loan for two years worth 3 million euros with a mandatory redemption fee of 12 million euros. Premium is also stating that the player’s medical will be next week. No official announcement has been made, so we cannot assume that Jovetic is already an Inter player. I have mixed feelings about the move. On one hand, I personally would have preferred a true winger to fit in a 4-3-3 system like Mohammed Salah. On the other hand, Mancini could transform Jovetic into a new player that can help bring Inter back to the top. The player has a past with injuries, and hopefully he remains healthy as long as possible. Once again, Inter must take a risk on a fantastic player who has had a couple difficult years in his career after a glittering spell with Fiorentina. Great risks could result in great rewards, with the keyword being could, as I have stated before. In all, I am a fan of this move, and hopefully Jovetic can return back to his best in Serie A.
One player Inter look almost certain to miss out on is Mohammed Salah. Sources such as Sky state that the Roma have reached an agreement with Chelsea and the Egyptian himself. The real villain for the Nerazzurri in the Salah saga was Fiorentina. The Viola released threatening comments against Inter, and the threat of going to court loomed large. Instead, Chelsea decided to play it safe, and send Salah to Roma. The Giallorossi have a good accord with Fiorentina, who are looking to receive Mattia Destro as a ‘compensation’ for the whole mess that was the Salah transfer saga. I am disgusted with Fiorentina in total. If a player does not want to play for you anymore, rejected a loan extension, and returned to his parent club, you do not have any say. Unfortunately, things got more complicated. Fiorentina agreed to pay the 1 million euros to extend Salah’s loan. In an ideal world, Chelsea would pay the money back, and any club would be free to approach Salah for a potential transfer. Fiorentina felt as if an ‘outside force’ was convincing Salah to veto a loan extension, and the culprits were Inter in their eyes. No attacks were targeted at Roma, which will almost certainly be Salah’s next club. I for one, am bitter that Inter missed out on the Egyptian. I do admit that 25 million is a lot of money, and the cash could be used in other areas. Salah would have been a welcome addition, but Inter could have been sued if they had seriously pursued the player. Overall, a shameful scenario.
In terms of players out, all eyes are on Xherdan Shaqiri. The Swiss international seems destined to depart Inter after only 6 months. Reports such as Il Corriere Dello Sport, La Gazzetta Dello Sport, and Sky have reported that Shaqiri is close to a move to Schalke. I am not sure if I am a fan of this deal, because Mancini requested Shaqiri last January, and now he is dumping him. In the end I guess Mancini knows best, and maybe Shaqiri could not adapt to Serie A. I am not too happy or sad about this deal.
Tell me what you think about this week’s news. Tweet at me @aadamforzainter and comment down below!

Shame on Fiorentina. The real reason why Salah rejected a loan extension was because Fiorentina sacked Montella, yet they’re trying to blame Inter for this.
Exactly
I think Jovetic’s injury problems is due to him not playing regularly at Man City. IF he gets regular playing time with us he will get back to his best like the Fiorentina days.
Perisic I can’t judge on him honestly because I haven’t seen him play and the highlight videos don’t give you the whole picture.
Perisic is an underrated team player who has a perfect age for a football player and will most certain be an asset – just as he is for his national team and Wolfsburg.
If Jovetic can regain form, and be the player he was for Fiorentina, then we
are in for a treat with him Perisic and Icardi as our attack! Not to mention that the midfield (Kondo, Kova, Hernanes, Brozo, Gnou, Medel etc.) already look promising and the defense as well. I am already very excited by this possible team – and even more excited by the fact, that (almost) all of these gifted players has room for improvement. If we reach that 3rd spot this season, we only get more time to see the players get better and turn Inter back into a force in European football. My romantic feelings for Inter has certainly been revived!
skeptical about the jovetic deal. his injury record is pretty high. perisic on the contrary is the best deal this transfer window. i think kondogbia’s fee was high but i don’t think we’ll see much from him compared to perisic. kondogbia doesn’t fully fit into mancini’s system .perisic does.
I think u wrong about Kondogbia which he will be a great player for us, and totally fit in Mancini tactics as he prefer strong, physical, tactical and technical midfielder and he is all that.
Jovetic can be spectacular… well yet again as long as he stay healthy. He remind me on Savicevic as has been said before. Big supporter of ex Yugoslavian origin players so thats why Im exited about Perisic but if we get him on a first place right! 🙂 He can cover couple of position and he guarantee decent stats about goals and assist.
Shaq well Who does not like him man!!? He is good player who can gave a hand down the flanks with crosses and he can cut thru the middle as he have a great left foot. I would like to stay, but as we have to sell then better him then Kovacic.
Savicevic!!! Yes I think jovetic will bounce back and show his true star qualities. Perisic is the complete player and we desperately need versatile player like him in attack so we dont have to rely on palacio. As for Shaq… I dont like him as an amf lr a winger… and I dont think I’m the only one seeing as only stoke and shalke stepped ul for him at a measly 17mil. If Shaq does stay I want mancini to convert him into a fullback. Ive said it plenty but compare Shaq to Roberto carlos and you can see the similarities… Shaq as an attaxking LB may be the tactical genius that gives our team another dimension… open up spaces to attack etc.
Oh and kdog is a beast. Just give him the full month of august to get familiar with his teammates. Kdog guaro kova hernanes is a mean midfield. Hopefully we cash in on Medel to bank in on his copa america hype… we dont really need him anymore. Hes more gargano than cambiasso plus if we did agree to melo we have melo and kdog to cover dmf position… even though it looks like manvio will play a regista and 2 cm. Also wouldnt be bad trying ranocchia as a dmf. Rano was an amf until he went to bari and got converted to a cb… seeing how he lacks pace but is good with head/tackles and has technique I think it would be interesting to see him as the dmf in the david luiz style… check ranos moves.. he dribbles often and passes well.. even long passes.
If you find one person, one, that agrees with you on Shaq playing as left back I will pay you $100.
deal and pickup your sister too, neighbors complaining smells like curry fish
I don’t get the curry fish reference. Are you trying to be racist? Anyway is not my fault that you don’t realize what you are saying is ridiculous. Roberto Carlos could defend some, knew the position well and the movements. Shaqiri has never been a full back and does not know how to play the position, how to move, how to cover, keep on the line of defense, man mark etc. etc. You cannot expect to retrain a player in a position he has never played in, especially at this level. Not only that, regardless of you comparison with one of a kind Roberto Carlos, who I repeat knew the position of LB, Shaqiri does not know how to defend as a defender, period. And he is much more suitable as an attacking player in an attacking position, where he has always played. Now go back to putting Shaq as a freaking left backand Ranocchia as a midfielder in your FIFA or PES. Cause you have very obviously have never played any type of competitive football.
No wasn’t racist at all, had to do with her foul smelling privates.
Anyways back to it:
R.Carlos was garbage in defense, the movt are very basic.. go up, go down watch the defensive line… Shaqiri doesn’t know how to play his current positions of WF/AMF, he failed at both and doesn’t know the movements either. He can only pick out a pass with time on the ball and he would have that time as a LB.. or he can just do what he does and keep his head down and run then knock it into the box. Shaq is still young and can still be adapted.. I mean look at Pirlo. Another a direct example: AMF to LB conversion look at none other than WC winner Fabio Grosso who was switched to LB late in his career. (Or Marek Jankulovski, or Leonardo)
Haha buddy I”ve trained with Parma as a teen and I’ve played at pro level here in the US. I’ve actually been paid to play. Only idiots make assumptions (racists too btw mr. glass hour). I speak when I know something, if I don’t know I listen. Try it, I may have given you the best advice of your life.
lol Rano as midlfielder and Shaqiri at left back. Let’s turn Biabiaby as right back too and Guarin as goalie. He has strong legs so can jump well and his kicks will get far into the opponents field. Bird shooting no longer a problem! He is very similar to Yashin, similar height and characteristics, it could work!
eh biabiany wouldn’t be bad as a RB, Philistine!
Full back?? Lol.. shaq is straight up an attacking player and has a really good eye for goal… he’s not really good at defending so i really dont know where you see the logic in that position change? Lmaoo you make me laugh kid.
people nowadays make me laugh. a 168cm fullback…
Bixente Lizarazu and Roberto Carlos were 168cm and WC Winners, laugh at yourself
Because R. Carlos could defend?
you don’t see the logic?
lemme break it down for you:
Similarities between R. Carlos and Shaq:
-bad defending
-cannon left foot
-built like refrigerators
-attacking minded
-average touch
-Fks + long shots
Take a seat son, perhaps you were still swimming in ur dads nuts when R.Carlos was playing hence why you don’t see the ‘logic’
Yea I can’t say that agree with you for Shaq and the fullback position from a reason that he is bad at defending and he is spacing out a little bit during the match.
with hold the kebabs before the match and watch Shaq actually not dose off! Carlos wasn’t good at defending and at least playing out of position will get him to wake up or feck off to Shalke
But yet again he does not possess the speed and the physic like Roberto. Little bit faster and little bit bigger advantage for Carlos i guess make difference on the field. Shaw is small man very small.
However Im getting your point and lets agree-disagree on this one, so Shaq get the feck off to Schalke so he can make space for Perisic as we like him both.
I like you buddy, I don’t mean to antagonize it’s just debate. The other guys took it a little too personaly but I’ve heard more banal things than trying out an AMF as a FB. Sidenote: Shaq is actually 1cm taller than R.Carlos and reason why I compared them is because Shaqs legs were compared to him. But you’re right, let’s agree to disagree.
I’m glad we can agree that Perisic will give us that extra gear! Forza INTER!
Please elaborate how he doesn’t fit…
sure, at the bayern game he played as a LCM. . if you seen the game you would’ve seen that the leftside was very overloaded. with most attacks coming on the leftside. dimarco was beaten a few times and murillo was working a lot more than ranocchia. that was largely due to kondogbia. i expect his style of play to change throughout the season. i hope that helps @inter4ever 🙂
you make a valid point. i just don’t understand you at times. you tend troll people alot with odd things. that’s why i think @inter4ever asked you to elaborate 🙂
I’m pretty sure adding medel to the midfield would solve this problem
yeah medel brings a little bit of solidity in the midfield, but it seems that mancini wants to buy felipe melo and play him there instead of medel. don’t know how you feel about that.
I’d like to think felipe melo would be a back up or an important rotation player in the midfield. Mancini has praised medel a lot, so I think it’s safe to say medel is a definite starter
be honest, have you seen melo play ever since his juventus days ? he gets a bad rep from interisti
I haven’t seen him play, have you? And if you have answer me this, is he better than medel?
i say this because i’ve seen him. actually i see most matches of players we’re linked to. from thilo kehrer to toulalan all the way to Zhang Linpeng(Chinese) . i don’t like commenting on here about players i don’t know. he is 100% better than medel. passing wise, defending wise. even discipline wise ” to me shock” i just think people on here give a bad rep towards certain players. (that’s why a i have a short temper :P)
I don’t like felipe melo because of his juventus days XD but of he’s good, then signing him is a must, but medel will always be one of my favourites 😀
yeah that’s the stereotypical interisti. people usually judge him by his worse years as a footballer(when at juventus) i believe mancini’s choice.
Yep and he was amazing with fiorentina. Melo is good
Gimme a break, he is still new to the environment, you can’t judge that someone isn’t compatible to the team when he’s just arrive, let alone in a friendly match lol
what’s wrong with you.
Nothing, just stating that you can’t judge a player when he is just arrived let alone in a friendly game, which part of my comment you can’t understand? If you think i’m wrong then mind it for yourself cause i’m definitely right.
i’m not judging anyone. i didin’t say he’s a bad player or anything of sorts. i just said he doesn’t know who to play in a 433. it’s obvious people agree with what i said. stop being a little bitch. you’re dismissed.
Actually nobody agrees with you.. that was only one game dude.. he’ll need a couple of games to find his rythm in that Position.. and mind you it was against bayern… top 3 team in the world.. our whole squad looked lost and confused.
i agree. the team needs to find their rhythm. but i don’t understand why we play in this system(4-3-1-2) if we going to play with 433 next season.
You’re not judging? Puh-leazee, “Kondogbia doesn’t fully fit into Mancini’s system” is called a judgement sir, just so you know lol. Me stop being a little bitch? Ew, i’m just replying your comment, so yeah you can tell yourself to stop being a little bitch. The like button? Well i got my comments more like than yours so far, lol
good for you. now stop replying to my comments.
You forgot point number one, you don’t tell me about what i should do. Stop replying to your comments? Lol did i reply on every comment of you? Pfftt don’t get too confident.. I reply when i feel it necessary. You don’t want to get some replies? Then simply don’t say anything, easy isn’t it? ^^
stop man.
Perisis can not be the best deal, because Wolfsburg won’t let him go
i guess you know more than DI Marzio and bild….
Bild? really? could you mention any less reliable source?
Wolfsburg won’t accept the ‘Inter formula’, they want money right away, so that deal is not done
cute. what about di marzio then? plus who said it’s “inter formula” what’s the point of us waiting to sell shaqiri first. do some research before posting nonsense.
wat? you state Perisic is a done deal while it isn’t, and i’m the one who should do some research? mkay, you win
where have i said that?
“skeptical about the jovetic deal. his injury record is pretty high. perisic on the contrary can be the best deal this transfer window. i think kondogbia’s fee was high but i don’t think we’ll see much from him compared to perisic. kondogbia doesn’t fully fit into mancini’s system .perisic does.”
good thing you are admitting defeat because i embarrassed you with facts. now don’t get into arguments you’re not up to kid. you are dismissed
nice editing, but first you wrote “perisic on the contrary the best deal this transfer window” – that is why i replied to your comment in the first place. now go and throw a tantrum
“you are dismissed” understand that part?
even then, i didn’t read it as “done deal”. you said they won’t accept ‘Inter formula’ and he proved you wrong. it’s bad going into an argument with false info. that’s my 2 cents on this whole thing.
This is a pointless arguement between them but where did he prove him wrong? If wolfsburg wants morey right away (reports say 10m out of the 20m) it will be difficult to move ahead as long as Shaqiri is still an Inter player
