Rai have been reporting on the situation of Xherdan Shaqiri during their ‘Sunday Sport’ programme, where there is reports of an ultimatum from Inter.
Marco Fassone and Piero Ausilio have had a long talk with the Swiss international, formerly of Bayern Munich, where they have told the player to hurry up and accept the offer from Schalke, otherwise the player is likely to remain in the stands for a year.

I doubt we’d really leave him in the stands; without selling him we can’t seem to get Perisic and he will be the only other player who can really play as a winger besides Jojo (not counting Biabiany for obvious reasons).

I agree mate, but to be honest we didn’t get him to give him a chance – we got him to make a difference. He didn’t deliver and now we’ve got the chance to get 2 good players by selling him (which is necessary to complete the attack).

And I’m sure Mancini has a better estimation of these things considering that he knows more about football than any of us and that he watched Shaqiri in training these past few months.
Like I said, I know it’s not pretty, it’s rude to Shaqiri but it’s what the club needs to do to progress. And I’m quite sure Shaqiri will do much better at a smaller club than he will with another big club. He seems to have a tendency to perform well when he’s the central figure of a team and doesn’t deliver when he has to share in the work with others. Symptomatic that he is world class with Basel and Switzerland but hasn’t really delivered with Bayern or Inter.

You made a good point there. But its not always that easy, we dont know the reason behind his poor form. Its also easier to perform in the Fiorentina shirt where you know you are the best player there and have the coachs full confidence. I personally prefer Salah over Shaqiri. But Shaqiri is not bad player, he is great player when he is on form.

I’ve been following him for a while now; he’s a great player and is the kind of player that Inter NEED right now; it’s not just about talent. It’s about how much he fits into what Mancini needs.
He’s a hard worker, is physically imposing and will provide a lot of defensive work (which Shaqiri never does). He’s been a starter for the Croatian national team for a while as well and will keep that spot. Perhaps 20 is a bit over the top for him because Wolfsburg are crazy – but make no mistake, he’s a very good player and might even effectively produce more for us than Shaqiri has.
I think you will told the same think last 6 month when Shaq is stil in bayern and hope he can came to us. Ao stop the complaint and just wait our management to work the transfer.

As for what I’ve said about Shaqiri – I was excited when he was coming because among other things I thought that he would take advantage of the space he got as a star on the team. He didn’t live up to the challenge, for one reason or another. Inter didn’t buy him to give him space to develop and to adapt – they wanted an instant difference maker because they have no time to lose (see, if he was a difference maker we would’ve been in the Europa League next season).
He didn’t do it – time to move on because it’s another “do or die” season for Inter.
Get Perisic, join him up with Jovetic and then the attack is complete; there’s still work to be done in getting a midfielder and maybe a left back, also a striker who will be an alternative to Icardi. Finally, even when all of them are eventually bought – we still have to let Mancini find the proper system for them to fit into.
