I don’t understand the Perisic deal; yes Mancini wants to play 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 but looking at our squad it really looks much more made for 4-1-2-1-2! Icardi on top with Jojo behind him, Palacio could be a vice to both. Hernanes played really well in a number ten role behind the strikers this spring and should be given that same role again this year. In central midfield Kondogbia is being transformed from a destroyer at Monaco into a box-to-box monster like Mancini did with Yaya at City, and therefor Kondogbia needs the freedom to go forward and attack and should be played in a central mid role with a destroyer behind him like Medel. Which leaves Kova on the right side of the central midfield, because he too needs someone behind him to clean up his “trash”, and therefor the destroyer is needed for both Kondogbia AND Kova to flourish and that man we already got in Medel!
What we need to really complete the squad is only a quality left back who can go far ward and who has quality crosses, then this team would be more or less complete!
But if we want to play 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 we need more than just Perisic, and where would Kova play in that setup?
Perisic is one of the most versatile players that I’ve ever seen.
I’ve seen him playing as RW, LW, CF, ST as well as RM, LM. He has pace, technique, teamwork, IQ and even heading ability.
So after signing him, there wouldn’t much problem for ST position.

But if he is that versatile as you said then he could even play in a 4-4-2 (which Mancini has used a couple of times lately or as a wingback in his most used 4-1-2-1-2 system!
