Mateo Kovacic has been speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport after Croatia’s 2-0 defeat against Norway in Oslo. The former Inter number 10 did not play due to suspension but did speak about his Summer move from the Nerazzurri to Real Madrid.

“Real Madrid is one of the few teams in the world who you can’t say no to. In the end they found a solution that made all parties happy. Every player dreams of playing for Real. It has happened to me at 21 years old, I feel very fortunate.”

“Did I persuade Real in the friendly in China? I do not think a club like this buys players based on a single performance and I know it will be tough to win a place in the team but I’m sure I will make it.”

“I was sorry to leave Milan regardless. It all happened so fast. Even if it takes time to put together many good players, I’m sure Inter will have a great season.”

“I hope to see Inter in the Champions League in twelve months time. At the beginning of the season everyone is optimistic and the new signings will justify the enthusiasm of the Inter fans.”

“The Champions League is great and is a long road away but I hope with all my might that Inter make it. I really wanted to play in the Derby but I’m sure Inter will win.”

“Jovetic? I was not surprised by his start to the season, I know he is a great player who can make the difference at any moment.”
