After Inter’s 1-0 Derby victory against Milan, coach Roberto Mancini spoke to Mediaet Premium:
“A Derby win on the third matchday where the teams are not in optimal condition is not that important. We are definitely not at our peak, and that is normal. We did some good things, but we also made mistakes. We have players who are out of shape, and they need to be sharper and more aggressive. Melo played in position, and I knew he could contribute. Perisic played in a new role that we practiced a couple of days ago. It was difficult for him but he played well. The table? It does not matter now. We can talk about it after 15 matchdays. Medel? He did well in defense. He can play in almost every position. He is experienced, and today he did well. Ranocchia has not played with Medel, but he knows the other South Americans. Milan caused us trouble on three occasions where we were out of position.”
The coach then went on to talk about Mario Balotelli:
“When he came on he caused us trouble. If we let him do what he can, he will cause us trouble. He did well today. Can Inter win the Scudetto? The season is long, and we still have a lot of work to do.”

The fact they didn’t play exceptional and still managed to win, is a sign of a good team. Good teams win despite playing like kids, bad teams lose easily won games. This is a new Inter (only took 3 years), we can truly judge them in January as right now its still to early.

Medel, Kondogbia was asked to to play behind in medel’s role, and often lost the ball close to the back line, 3 times he would have cost us dearly, and icardi, Mancini insists to impose larger defensive role on Icardi, i am not saying icardi shouldnt head back and help out, not as much as Mancini wants, when icardi gets a chance he is already tired, he throw it away, cause he doesnt have much left in his legs, i dont know what game you watched, i am happy and thankful for the win, but i am realistic, we played bad
Great call with Medel playing in the centre-defense. Mancini tactics was spot on. Yet again we manage to win even tho we weren’t that great. Everybody and everywhere can improve and that gave me confidence and excitement. Next stop Chievo… Keep the same concentration and will…
I’m starting to get why he wanted so many new players and changed such a big portion of the team. We were having a loser mentality in the last several years. Problems with morale are fixed when you get champions like Jojo, Perisic, Kondogbia or some that simply don’t give a shit cause they’re crazy (like Melo). Next you remove the ones that had severe self-confidence problems (Rano benched and stripped out of captaincy; Kovacic sold). And last you give that captains armband to a real leader, and Icardi is one who can inspire his teammates and play well even when the team loses, so it was a bold, but justified move. Well done so far, Mancio.

He is a good leader, but his inconsistency is a factor and has led him to the bench or almost sold in the past. Whereas Mauro performs and scores even when he’s not playing that well.
Personally not a fan of icardi as captain but I will trust mancini and management on this decision
I have to agree that last years team lacked achievers. Although I don’t want to disrespect Handanovic, Guarin or Icardi. They eanred their jobs. I thought 2 of 3 originals were responsible for winning the game. Hando and Guaro.

The thing most of us hate about guarin is that most of his actions fails. But when he gets something right it’s always an assist or a goal. Sometimes it’s just frustrating when another one of his shots hits a bird or something. We all now what he is capable of if he hits the target or gives a good pass/cross.

In the past Guaro was forced to shoot, pushing too hard aimlessly cause he didnt haved point of reference..a player who’ll share the burden of creating something. Now we can see that he can always look to Jojo, while oponents also distracted by Jojo’s movement as they’ll always thought that the next pass before Icardi will go to Jojo. Miranda’s absence is a blessing in disguise, so we can try Melo with Medel and Guarin still on the pitch…yes it is still only 9 points, but its a damn healthy foundation for the rest of the season!

Criticism can be helpful. Murillo was bad in the first half, how much do you want to bet he got a talking to in the dressing room so he can get his head in the game? I know you don’t like mancini but he is honestly doing very well. If we win the scudetto you will say that other teams are “beaten up” and off pace… no need to cheapen our victories man because I know that’s not what you mean.

I think peresic will be played in his real position when we play with
4-2-3-1. He had only 3 days with peresic so I think he had a weird tactic in mind. Murillo was bad in the first half, almost cost us a goal by playing it carlos bacca and some bad clearances and even medel constantly left a spot open in the first half. My biggest gripe with mancio is why he used palacio???? I think if we used lijajc some of those passes palacio couldn’t get to would have been translated into another goal. Kondogbia did very well IMO – constantly in position and used skill to get out of tough positions
