In today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, there is a report on the impact of Felipe Melo on the new Inter as evident in last night’s win against Hellas Verona.
The newspaper defines the Brazilian midfielder as an extremely important part of an Inter side with just six goals (eight teams have scored more) that has won it’s first five games of the season, which hasn’t happened since the 1966/67 season.
The former Galatasaray player has went in a few days from criticism to the exaltation of the fans, who praise him now as a new idol.
The player is very capable as shown against Verona last night, he sets the play and marks players, even scoring from a corner before he gave Mancini who wanted him so bad a composed high five and running to give his wife Roberta Nagel who was sitting on the new benches at the sideline a celebratory kiss.
Also when needed taking a booking for the team as happened last night on Viviani on a Verona counter attack. Felipe Melo is the complete package as a midfielder.

Way too early to talk about this topic now, maybe in the winter break. I like Melo a lot but honestly this is just the beginning of new season. Media are giving too much BS and pressures to our squad (especially to Melo & K-Dog) and that’s not a good sign especially when this winning streak is finally come to end. I’m really happy for the record but I prefer the squad to stay humble and keep working hard and improving continuously. We still have many rooms to improve though. We’re lucky enough to secure that winning streak.
i honestly thought this guy would have gotten a red card by now and costs us a game or two lol i hated the idea of getting him when it first came up but he’s def proved me wrong. Most of his cards so far are either undeserved or necessary to stop an attack against us. Really good purchase, #forzainter

I’ll be the first to admit I was wrong about Melo. I thought this was a bad purchase but so far he’s been great! Hope he keeps it up throughout the season!
Me 2 – i have always hated this guy – but he clearly matured the last couple of years. IMO he is a completly deifferent player compared to the last time he was in Italy

I liked him since the rumor of us acquiring him came out,two months ago.
And he can do better,much better as far as playmaking goes,and he will when we have more chemistry as a team.
Melo has a long and vertical passing ability which is almost “pirloesque”.
My biggest worry is that he will most probably miss a few games by accumulation of yellow cards this season.
