Former Inter captain Beppe Bergomi has been commenting after Inter’s defeat against Fiorentina on the tactical choices of Roberto Mancini.
“Adopting the three man defence was a huge surprise, almost incomprehensible. The team was working well but Mancini has upset things with this solution.”

this match remind me when inter suffred a lost from lecco, when inter using 3 cb
As i always said, it’s easy to criticize, when things goes wrong and praise, when the team’s winning. But we always have to look the big picture. Congrats to Fiorentina, they played well, pressing high most of the time and most importantly knowing what they doing. When you play well, sooner or later the results will come. And when you don’t know what you’re doing, playing slow and predictable, with total lack of tactical knowledge, flexibility and creativity. Sooner or later will get what you deserve. This defeat, as painful it was, comes in the right time to bring us down. If we’re smart enough, we will learn our lessons and will not repeat the same mistakes again. For us real season starts now and despite those five victories, fight for the Champions League spot will be extremely difficult, even Europa League will be tough task and we have to be ready to fight until the end.

Lets actually try 4-3-3
Mancini is trying way too hard to be “complex” he confused himself
Agree with Incomprehensible & Fiorentina play better than Inter,
Also those pressing…
No more 3-5-2 please…
Also guarin we’re fking fed up. Every game other than Milan derby you have sucked. GTFO until you earn your spot and bring in brozovic who showed some good things against atlanta
We just need sack this fake coach.SACK SACK SACK this shit.We didn’t have one good match with him and now with this brainless midfield we will have more matches like this one last night…
And this silly tactical change just happened when we were about to forget those two shitty years under Mazzari and his 3-5-2…
This just shows you how poor Mancini is tactically. Mistake nr 1: He starts with 3-5-2 intead of 4-3-3 which is more suited to this team. Mistake nr 2: If he is gonna play with 3 at the back why not play Ranocchia instead of Santon who is not a CB and play Santon as wingback. Too many players playing out of there natural position. Santon is not a CB and Peresic is not a wingback (we saw that clearly how easy Marcos Alonso got past him during Fiorentinas 3rd goal). Mistake nr 3: He changes tactical formation too often and this creates confusion. No wonder we still play ugly football. Just stick with 4-3-3 period unless injuries forces you to change or a red card.
well said. I hope Mancini never uses it again, unless he wants to lose his job as Mazzari did.
I think that Mancini wanted to play 3 5 2 because the only team that won against la Viola was Torino, who play 3 5 2…… but it was madness to try it …..
He loves to say “we are Inter” ….. now, I say this – we are Inter and we don’t have to adapt/change our game or formation when we play Fiorentina at home. We have to play our game and they have to think about changing something.
Big mistage Mancini, now please lift up the morale of Handanovic and the defense and win the next two games against Samp and Juve to prove all the critics that this defeat was only a “wash out’.
These next 3 games against Samp (away) and Juve (home) and Palermo (away) will prove Mancini´s worth.
Wasn’t the whole point of this transfer market is to buy players that are equipped to play in a 4-man backline formation and leave the 3-man defense to the past. I don’t understand what Mancini was thinking, as you said fiorentina should adapt to inter as this team should show superiority over any team in serie a, not the other way around. This method of adapting to smaller teams just shows inter are not a big team which is absolutely ridiculous, especially as you said they copied Torino which should be irrelevant for a prestigious team like inter.
Well said Beppe. That was a huge mistake by Mancio
