Roberto+Mancini

Inter coach Roberto Mancini spoke to RAI after the draw against Palermo in Sicily.

“Palermo put us in great difficulties in the first half hour as our team shape was too long and so they hurt us through their counter-attacks. In the last 15 minutes of the first half and in the second half we were better, we were very unlucky and very unlucky when Vazquez dived but we had chances to win.”

Mancini was asked about Mauro Icardi lacklustre performance and goalscoring drought to which he replied: “He’s a penalty-area player, sometimes you don’t manage to score but he has to remain calm because the goals will come. Sure, it’s true he should be more involved in the build-up play but he should just remain calm.”

“Why Inter didn’t win? This is football. We did better in the second half and we were unlucky not to win.”

In conclusion Mancini was asked if this was Inter’s best away match of the season and Mancini replied: “It was a good game, especially after half-time with the chances created. We are improving despite the results. We have to continue like this and try to find the best solutions. However, it’s important that we’re in the top part if the standings.”
