zanetti cambiasso

Ex Inter midfielder Esteban Cambiasso now at Olympiakos has been answering questions on UEFA’s official Champions League website about his career.

Who is the best player you played with at Inter?

“It’s difficult to just pick one. For his consistency, our friendship and many personal components, I would pick Javier Zanetti.”

Who is the best coach you have worked with in your career?

“Every coach means something to all players. I would say Jose Pekermann for what he did for my development as a young player.”

Who is your footballing idol?

“It is Fernando Redondo.”

What team do you support?

“Argentinos Juniors.”

What is your favourite goal you have scored in your career?

“The best goal was the one I scored against Serbia during the 2006 World Cup but the most important goal was the one for Inter against Chelsea in 2010.”

Which player did you want to play with but didn’t get the chance to?

“I would have liked to play alongside Ricky Kaka.”

Has anything in your career topped winning the Champions League or even came close?

“In my career, no, nothing has came close to that. In my life, my children.”

Do you think your old team Leicester will qualify for the Champions League?

“Football is made of dreams. I imagine that Leicester have different aspirations than that this season but dreams are there to be realised.”

Have you settled at Olympiakos?

“Yes, I like it. I feel very welcomed here and I have met lots of nice people. I’m feeling good.”

Finally, what does football mean to you?

“Football is something very important in my life. I experience it passionately. If I were to use one word to describe football, it would be ‘passion’.”
