Inter are victorious and stand alone at the top of Serie A. The Corriere dello Sport reports that ‘Mancini wins a fourth game in a row to recover top spot (the last time that happened after 13 rounds was in the treble season) fielding a thirteenth different set up (formation and players) and amazing everyone with two very offensive wingers (Biabiany and Ljajic)’.
Frosinone for their first ever trip to San Siro had intended to stop Inter with a classic 4-4-2 formation but Inter’s quality shone through for a confidence boosting 4-0 win ahead of next week’s match against Napoli.

This is like the last nail in the coffin for those who think that formation is the key between winning and losing. Well. Mancini has proved that it’s not true. It’s all about the mentality and picking the right players at the right time in the right position. I’m so happy we have a coach who has brought organized discipline back to the team.
hahaha.. hater always hate, they can hate mancini all they want.. we know that the only inter coach for them is mou.. but one thing for sure actualy deep inside them, they are happy too.. but they are too shy to admit.. after all they love inter too just like us..^^
I strongly disagree. Mancini has been changing formation and line up every game and that kept us unpredictable, and proved to be the key to his success. Although, I partially agree that the team is finally playing as a unit, and if someone makes a mistake others will try to clean that up.
That is exactly what I wanted to point out! Last couple of seasons people here go nuts because Mazzarri used 3-men defense and said you can’t win with it. Well, Mancini used the same system and we won. So, no matter what the formation has been, we have won.
mancini’s inter is like a chameleon.. he change tactic and starting line up in every game, depend on the opponent and the performance of his player in the training ground.. it’s so unpredictable, so far still good as we’re at the top..^^
Mancini undoubtly fair enough to not depend on one or two person. Everyone could be starter, key player, and man of the match. Thats why I hate to see guarin always got the spot when better playercan be a starter.
Please do not let your authors write if they lack knowledge. Classic 4-4-2 has a flat midfield, like what Man City plays sometimes. We played 4-2-2-2 this game..
I believe the author means that flat 442 formation was for Frosinone.
“Frosinone for their first ever trip to San Siro had intended to stop Inter with a classic 4-4-2 formation but Inter’s quality shone through for a confidence boosting 4-0 win ahead of next week’s match against Napoli.” nothing wrong with the author mate..^^ please read the article again.. 😉
Classic 4-4-2 refers to this:
————————X—————————
X———–X——————-X—————-X
X———–X——————-X—————-X
————-X——————X——————
We played this: 4-2-2-2
———————Handa————————
Naga——-Miranda——–Murrilo——-Telles
————–Melo————-Kondo————-
Biabiany————————————Ljajic
—————Icardi————-Jojo—————-
Nobody (including the author) is saying we played 4-4-2…
I actually think we played 4-2-3-1, Jo-Jo played bahind Icardi
we now that mate.. we’re trying to tell you that you miss the point that the author trying to said.. and he talking about frosinone formation, not inter.. that’s why i told you to read it again.. ^^
Thanks for your note mate..
Alex this is the Author. I wrote that Frosinone used 4-4-2 not Inter
dem “Frosinone for their first ever trip to San Siro had intended to stop Inter with a classic 4-4-2 formation”
I thnik that Mancini wil apply a defensive strategy against Napoli. 5-3-2.
it’s going to be 4-2-3-1 Perisic going down helping the left back
agree – like we played against Roma; 4-5-1 with Perisic helping JJ on the left wing and with Guarin helping D’AMbrossio out on the right – Medel infront of the defense and Melo and Kondog/Broso in front of them and with Jojo as the solo striker, because he is more mobile and tecnically stonger than Icardi, and therefor better at holding up the ball!
With yesterday level of performance, teller is much better option than JJ.
Yeah I was really impressed as he seemed just as good in defence as he was in attack. However, Napoli are a different proposition and maybe JJ offers more grinta? Difficult choice…
Ljajic will be starter for sure.
don´t think so- he doesn´t do much defensively – a great player how was awesome the other day, but in a away game in Napoli we need defensively strong players!
Let’s not forget the game against Roma, where he did great job defensively as well.
Really? Only remember the work done by Perisic and Guarin/ Broz!
Sometimes I wonder how could we survive those shitty 5 years!?
My worst memories as an Interist were those years under Ranieri and Mazzashit.
Whaaaat, you forgot Benitez?
The stupid coach that destroyed Inter.. I’m really convinced that the start of our declining is the Benitez’s era.. Should Moratti hire someone better, Inter won’t be struggling in those years..
i hate benitez. but let’s be honest, our squad were getting old, and moratti didn’t want to change or add new blood to the team.. so it’s unfair to just put all the blame to that scum.. so after our treble moratti had made the wrong mercato strategy too.. he think that the same team can dominate serie a again.. so everybody is to be blame..
His training methods are shit for sure.
If u remember that season, in the mid-point, all of our starters were injured and Sneijder got fainted in dressing room!!!
that’s why he’s a scum.. ^^
i think he success destroy every team that he touch. look at madrid now with ronaldo and ramos or chelsea with terry or even gerrads at liverpool all saying that they’re dont like Bentitez.
If you talk about benitez..you can see real madrid now…what happened with el real
Yeah Benitez was shit as well, but I still hate Mazzashit more than any other coach.
Benitez though
Well back then we had shitty/ wash up players – my worst memories were from the pre-Calciopoli periode, when we had shit-loads of oile money from Moratti-suggardaddy and bought the one world class player after the next, but always seemed to suck on the pitch or to lack the final quality/ luck in the important games!
Agree. But that was how I start to love those Inter as 9 years old and amazed by kind of players like Ronaldo, Zamorano, Baggio, Simeone, Pagliuca, and we struggle to get the scudeto. The best moment to remember was 5-4 win over Roma at 98/99 season.
🙂 Those memories is what football is all about and what combines everyone of us in here!
The general Nicola Berti, the “old man Bergomi”, the flying Zenga and the Germans were those who got my eyes open for the black/blue colours, but the players you mentioned brought in with the Moratti-olie money and all the Coaches he sacked, the belive in “next year we’ll win the title, you just wait and see” only for us ending up struggling eith again – was exactly what made me fall in love with this club!
Had we won everything back then, with all the world class players we brought in, I’m not so sure I’d be such a die-hard fan today – just look at “wannabe” fans like those of Barca, Real, Utd or even Juve!
We are the TRUE fans!!!
Yeah I remember that, but post calciopoli it all made sense why we never won the league despite having the best players. Yes, not all can be blamed on those cheating bastards rube but I remember at least 2 seasons (97/98, 2002/2003) we definitely had the best team and guess who won the league those two years!?
true dat!
i cant remember how many player and coach we brought in those periode, if only moratti have better plan in manage inter with all the money he have back then maybe, just maybe, we could get treble earlier.
Agree and not only getting the triple but actually could have been almost invincible today, if he had had the foresight to invest his money in something that could have made the club self-sustainable like a self- owned stadium and focusing on selling our brand world wide – like Thohir is doing today but without having the huge money bank to help him Moratti had! Moratti was a big fool only thinking about the the current season and not planing ahead at all!
Yeah, but at least we had great players in that era.
Compare it with Mazzashit era, when we had to stand watching likes of Campagnaro, Taider, Kuz and etc. wearing our shirt and losing to likes of Atalanta and Cagliari.
What about hector cuper years?
well cuper actually build the team Mancini got and made the foundation for playing the way Mancini and later on Mou used! He finished 2. and got fired if I’m not mistaken!
No, mancini build a team himself. The center of mancini first spell team was cambiasso who came in 2004 with mancini. Then came veron, cruz, and oba oba. Then figo, then maxwell, julio cesar, ibra, and vieira. The player who came befor mancini only zanetti, cordoba, matrix, stankovic, adriano and toldo. Adriano and stankovic were also came in jan 2004 which also wasn’t cuper era.
foundation at inter cuper was emre, martin, okan gully, conceicao, kallon and vieri
and mancini rebuild the team..^^
More than agree.
I’m not taking about players we brought – every coach bring with him new players! I’m talking about the mentality of the team, tactics and how we step on to the pitch; do want to play possession-based football, on the counter, with a high defensive line or a low one, playing on the wings or through the middle like in Spain. Cuper was a tactical extremely strong coach who build Valencia into a defensive very strong side, a side Benitez came in after Cuper and continued building on a winning with, but the foundation was build by Cuper.
Cuper played a 4-4-2 with a rather deep defensive line and played rather wing based, things Mancini continued with when he came in, and Mou As well!
It’s the same thing we can see with Roma today, sure Garcia is a great coach but the foundation, mentality and tactics were build by former coaches and especially by Luis Enrique and continued using and developing by Garcia.
Today Mancio is starting from scratch because a circle has ended and a way of playing has ended, and with a lot of different coaches with different playing stiles, mentality and tactics have been at the club since Leonardo left the club ( he simply played like Mou did nothing else!)
Cooper made us competitive… There are so many shitty coaches in the recent years that Cooper is actually a good one in my books.
Not only Cuper was a decent coach, but also we had great players in that era. Adding to this, with him we had one stolen schudetto and reached UCL semi-final.
Compare it with Mazzashit and watching Campagnaro, Johnathan and Kuz in Inter shirt every week and losing to likes of Atalanta and Cagliari with his damn unwatchable style!
looks like everyone forgot about Gasperini
because he did’t worth to mention.. hahahaha..
Yup, Gasperini and Mazzari with their shitty 3 man defense ideologies go down as the worst coaches I have ever seen since I have been watching football.
Leonardo’s win or sink tactics also made me furious.
He was the coach for just 5 games, not worth mentioning. 😀
Marco tardelli i think..worst manager since i become interisti…
Yeah, he was shit as well.
I like that Mancio can adapt the team to the formation that is needed(with exception in the Fiorentina game), but we need some stability. I would preffer if he would start settling down for 4-2-3-1.
Being able to play different formations and switch at will is an incredible ability for a team to have. It speaks volumes in contradiction of what people say about inter being a boring, catenaccio-themed eat. Formation switching is total football era. And Guardiola-esque. Admittedly that’s stretching the analogy a bit but you get the idea. As you say though-a single starting formation would be good. Personally I’d be more inclined to a classic 4-3-3 but 4-2-3-1 is so similar that works too
Did you read what I wrote? That is why I exactly said that I like he has the skills to modify the formation from game to game, a skill many managers don’t have. But even with that option, we would profit from a bit of consistancy, so the players know exactly which role they have to execute and such.
The problem with 4-2-3-1 is the fact that we can not see Icardi and JOJO play together as they are both selfish. Maybe Jojo and Palacio.. But I’d rather see Maurito on the pitch. To me the best formation is 4-2-2-2 with Icardi and JOJO our strikers and Ljajic and Perisic to be our wingers.
There is a lot of diversity formation wise, I think mancini is teaching the players how to handle every situation and formation
