After having watched his Inter beat Caglairi 3-0 at home in the round of the last 16 in the Coppa Italia, Roberto Mancini was interviewed by RAI: “I’m never happy about loosing, especially the loss against Napoli where we deserved more. Today wasn’t easy, Cagliari started well, then we came out well. Defense? We started with 4 players, we’ve always played with 4, in the middle of the second half we changed things around in midfield and some positions during the match. Brozovic is good, he’s young, he has enormous room to improve and to really become a great midfielder.”

Then Mancini spoke about his return to Inter a year ago: “What I wanted to achieve at Inter? I don’t know [laughs]. I wanted to give a hand, everyone’s help is needed when things don’t go well. Last year we built a good foundation, now things are going much better. But the season is long, the difficulties will come. All coaches need time to put a decent team together, we’re doing well right now, but there are teams that are better than us. We’re happy to spend Christmas in the top spot of the Serie A.”

“Italian coaches are all very good, they know all the players and the tactics. Turnover? To keep all players ready to give their all when called upon. I think this is a positive thing. Handanovic? We pay him to make important saves, we concede chances like all teams. A good goalkeeper is one who has one shot on him but makes a decisive save on that shot.” In conclusion he spoke about the level that Inter are currently on.

“Inter have to still grow, there’s work to be done. We have a balance in our team, I think the team will stay like this. Then it also depends on our players, if anyone wants to play more than they are…We have many players, the team is complete as it is. We could be lacking a typical player in a certain role but we’re doing well like this. What rating I give myself? I give myself a 6, I haven’t done anything yet.”
