Ricky Alvarez was interviewed by Samp TV about returning to Italy and joining Sampdoria:
“I’m happy to be here and I’m at disposal of the team and the coach. I’m ready to start training straight away and I feel really good. Now the only thing missing is to start working.”
Alvarez has been training for a couple of months and has been available on a free transfer after neither Inter and Sunderland wanted to keep him.

I don’t think we didn’t want to keep him… It’s more that we needed the money more as we had already counted it in our dealings. Sunderland should pay.
