New updates on the Fredy Guarin transfer saga have came out. The Colombian is determined not to accept Jiangsu Suning’s offer. Despite the lucrative offer for both the player and Inter, there are other more probable scenarios. In fact, Guarin wants to stay at Inter. According to FcInternews.it the Colombian will only consider a move if the club “show him the door.” A move is most likely to occur towards the end of the mercato. The Chinese deal is in standby, because they are yet to completely convince the player. Zenit St. Petersburg are now in pole position to sign the Colombian. The clubs are expected to meet this week, and Guarin is interested in playing in the Champions League with his former boss Andre Villas Boas. If the Russian club offer a good offer then the player could go. This would make a move to China even more likely. Inter are permitting.

Let’s think like Guaro for a moment. He knows Inter is not going to buy another midfielder if he doesn’t leave. So he has a choice of staying at Inter and possibly fighting for the scudetto even if starting only half of the games or going to China for money now and oblivion later… And he has a coach that gave him a vote of confidence just last week. It’s a no-brainer if you come to think it through.
One of the risks of giving everyone playing time is that they have no reason to leave. Mancini even played Guarin on Sunday against Atalanta. You don’t do that with players who are about to leave or that you want to sell. And if Mancio wants to keep him, then why waste time negotiating and posting articles?
Guarin is simply too old to learn how to be consistent, Villas-Boas want him? Perfect.

Guarin was the best of the mediocre players we had in the last 4-5 years while fighting for 5th place. He has given a lot to the team in these years, giving us hope and keeping us out of the relegation zone. As such, he deserves respect and if Inter wants to sell him, they should openly talk to him, instead of waiting for him to go to China and commit career suicide.
