Antonello Sannino, The President of a civil rights group advocating equal rights for LGBTQ people in Naples, made some bold remarks on Napoli coach Sarri’s homophobic slurs against Roberto Mancini after the Coppa Italia quarter final match between Inter and Napoli: “If racist songs are sung there will be sanctions and bans imposed but nothing happens when homophobic insults are made. CONI and FIGC should impose in their statutes clear rules against discrimination, bullying and offensive and violent acts against gays, lesbians, bisexualls and transsexuals.”

Sannino wants a public debate on these issues and invites Maurizio Sarri to the parade “Wake up Naples” to be held on Saturday January 23rd. “Sarri, just like all people in the public, have an enormous responsibility towards men and women who are victims of abuse especially in places where the media and TV don’t often highlight.”
