Speaking to Premium Sport, Torino coach Giampiero Ventura was happy about the victory against Inter: “This victory is needed. We are coming from three months that have been unreal, for many reasons. Tonight’s match confirms it: this is a team that when it plays as it is capable of it can do good things. This victory does not erase the past few months, but we did learn a lot. We won deservedly, beyond the two expulsions that we benefited from. Padelli did not need to make any saves in the first half, the only shot was the penalty by Icardi. I’m happy for the team, for the club, for the fans… Now, we hope we can give these fans more satisfaction before the end of this championship.”
“You don’t win at the San Siro if you don’t play a good match. I’m proud of what these players have done. Three months can’t erase four years of work. I felt sorry for them, I was never angry. In these times there is no escape from the difficulties through words, but through work. Playing like this we can make it difficult for many teams. Belotti? It’s his first year playing with continuity. He set a personal scoring record, is beginning to do the movements correctly. Belotti will make it to the national team, he will continue to work and have the humility to wait. You can’t have everything at once: if he won’t be called by Italy it will be my failure. But he has the desire, mentality and the quality to get there.”
Ventura ended by commenting on the rumors of him as a future coach for the national team: “There’s lots of talk about me, my next destination, my successor… It’s a bizarre situation because I still have two years left of my contract, but this is a part of football, we must know how to handle this as well.”
