If Inter have had some back luck earlier this season, then Lady Luck paid the Nerazzurri back big time today when Mancini’s men beat Frosinone away by 1-0 after Mauro Icardi scored his 50th goal in his 100th fixture in all competitions for Inter in a match where the home side hit the woodwork three times without managing to score.
This was a lacklustre performance by Inter from start to finish, no matter what anyone says. Inter looked like they were playing football in slow motion and they failed to hit the target until the 62nd minute! Sure Frosinone defended really well and if there was any justice in football then they would have scored three times before Perisic’s cross found Icardi who headed home the only goal of the match. We all know that football is football and sometimes the beautiful game, just as life itself, can be very unfair.
Stevan Jovetic looked just as rusty as you could have expected him to be given his long absence and Alex Telles crosses were poor, to say the very least. Up front Perisic ran into space but his finishing let him done on more than one occasion, whilst Icardi did what he always does: runs around looking to sniff a chance to bury it. Sure, at times it can be very frustrating to watch but you can’t take away that Icardi is a goalpoaching phenomenon. How else can you describe his accomlishment today? His 50th goal in his 100th match for Inter in all competitions, for a player who turned 23 this past February. Opinions are opinions and facts are facts and Icardi’s stats are beyond fantastic. Just what is he capable of if he would play in a team surrounded by say a Mesut Özil? Remarkable.
No, today will only be remembered for the fact that Inter now have 58 points and are only 1 win away from beating their highest point score in a season since Mazzarri’s first season where the team had 60 points after the season was finished. Given that there are 6 matches left to play, Inter could end up with more than 70 points for the first time since the 2010/2011 season when Inter finished 2nd behind Scudetto winning Milan on 76 points. Most seasons 70 points is good enough to finish third, this year it wont even come close. However, as much as Mancini has been criticized by parts of the Inter faithfull, opinions are opinions and facts are facts, and the latter points to Inter finishing with their highest point score in 5 years no matter how anyone feels about Mancini’s performance this season.

3 point is 3point,
Ugly, undeserved and incredible lucky win is a opinion, but most of the fans will agree with that evaluation. It won’t be a problem if we wasn’t the same whole season, with excluding of a few games two with Napoli and Juventus for Coppa and probably Roma games. I don’t understand the points comparison, only thing that counts are the standings. And if after season and a half and so many expensive transfers like Shaquiri, Kondogbia, Perisic, Miranda, Jovetic, Eder, Telles, etc. fourt or fifth place is big achievement, i don’t think so. If you want facts who counts better than opinions, here some of them: from 17 wins these season so far we have 11 with 1-0, our goal difference is 42-30, 16th Sampdoria are scored 44, Fiorentina – 51, Roma – 66, Sassuolo – 40, Chievo – 38, Torino – 39, etc. What do you think about that? And most important thing, football in the first place is supposed to be entertainment for the fans, but with those ugly, slow, predictable football Mancini can bored us to death.
Icardi is the problem, I don’t mind him playing, but only if u get him a playmaker, he needs a ozil kovecic someone to set him up, but we don’t have number 10. What suit us right now, just like roma is a false 9, dzeko is on the bench for the greater good. There is a difference between r9 and 8+1.please people watch the games icardi didn’t play, and u will see the difference every one in this team is capable of scoring. Example the two goals perisic scored one v roma the other v juve the reason is eder dragging bonnucci out of position and he fault him already ones, he let him go one two with ljajic hes in, same v roma monoles follows him and he let of perisic, because defenders know that eder can take on players if it becomes direct or even jovatic or palacio icardi makes our games boring our players don’t know what to do he’s in between players, for that type of striker u need a number 10, that’s why hes goals r random.
Just need more great AMR: Lamela? Feghouli? Candreva? Salah? Cuadrado?
No to Lamela. Salah and Cuardado are not going to leave Roma and Juventus and they would cost lot of money so that is not possible.
As for Feghouli and Candreva maybe but first one is wanted by many clubs and second one wouldn’t be cheep and if are to invest 20+ millions in a RW i would go for Berardi not Candreva.
Well, I still have some of candidate…Ben Arfa, Juan Mata and Bellarabi, or even Pjaca. For Feghouli, which club really want him?
Ben Arfa is also wanted by many clubs considering his performances this year. I see him as a great player but a bit primadonna and selfish. He could be good but also a big disaster.
And Mata isn’t a RW even thou Utd play him as RM sometimes. He gives his best performances when deployed to the middle.
Btw who is Pjaca, haven’t heard from him before?
My top candidates would be Bellarabi, who could be perfect for us! Or Berardi! 🙂
Cheers
Pjaca is another Perisic. He’s alr on Croatia’s first team. Like Perisic, he plays better on the left. Would be a great affordable reinforcement. I’d personally go for Berardi and Feghouli (Free Transfer).
Pjaca is a very physical player with good tecnique. Still raw though. Brekalo is another Dinamo Zagreb player with enormous potential. He is very young but already heavily pursued by Bayern.
Too bad Shaqiri and Ricky were leave..They also a good candidate to be AMR.
why not a playmaker bro?
dont we need them?
If Mancini really use 4-2-3-1 formation, no need playnaker. Just AMC. I think the candidate for sure is Banega and Jojo
right..
but, i think a deep lying playmaker in 4-2-3-1 can also become a deadly weapon, but i dont know who is the “available” candidate for that role..
Great article – and as you point out;Mancini is doing a great peace of work with a lot of new players and hopefully he stays on next year and keeps on building (and who knows, maybe with the little help from Chinese friends!).
my delusional friend i have some questions:
1. does it bother u that we are playing like shit?
2. do u think transfer mercato was good?
3. do u think that spending more than 100mln for players and gaining just a few points more is deserved when maybe our position in the table will be the same as that mazzari manage to take.
4. we missed EL last year which u said will benefit our campaign this year…well what happened??
5. what about italian cup?
6. do u find any clear visible style of play besides waiting for opponents mistakes?
7. why so many late subs?
if u want to watch the same miserable performance next year better became fan of some midtable-lowtable team, because this is not INTER!
my Mancini hater friend. I will answer it
1. Nope. A win is a win
2. Yup. Only Montoya that flop
3. Nope, Inter just spend 98 million
http://www.transfermarkt.com/inter-milan/transfers/verein/46/saison_id/2015/pos//detailpos/0/w_s//plus/1#zugaenge. And mostly some of the loan with option to buy
4. Bilan also missed EL
5. Inter play a beautiful match…that nobody expect to win 3-0 again Rube
6. Yup, that depend on player will Mancini play. Remember, mostly Inter opponent use bus parking tactics.
7. That’s because tactics decision
1. “Win is a win” – I’m agree sometimes the team play shit and a narrow victory with ugly performance is acceptable. But in most of our wins we are playing like shit and relying of the luck. This is not acceptable. This showing our lack of tactics and style of play. And you know – luck is not forever.
2,3. I’m agree – the merkato was good and our balance expenses/ incomes was near to zero. But this shows a flaw in the article – our squad past years was times weaker than now. This means that even Strama could do 70 points our current squad with.
4. Who cares about Milan?
5. One good game doesn’t make your season.
6. Mancini has NO tactics. Yesterday (and most of our games), our players just moved ball to the 4 attackers and then stopped and watched them struggling against Frosinone’s defensive wall. This is not a style or tactic, this is stupidity. Please, explain me why we came on the pitch with 4 offensive players and we had only 3-4 good opportunities for a whole game. And this was Frosinone for Christ sake! And i’m not agree that most of the teams park the bus. Most of the teams know our weaknesses and start pressing hard our defenders when they have the ball, forcing them just to shoot aimless forward. Mancini has showed (in many games) that he’s not able to handle this press.
7. We don’t have any tactics. Mancio just doesn’t know what to do.
4. Well, Bilan don’t compete in any European competition but look at the table.
5. Don’t worry. Many games will.
6.http://www.goal.com/en/results/team/frosinone/2981?ICID=TP_LMW_FT_1
Even Rube was draw against Frosinone…Rube that win almost all matches.
7. Well, if you know what to do then just try coaching some amateur team first then you can comment who to subs.
4. Why you are so keen comparing us to Milan? Their team is much worst than us. Say something than about Roma, Napoli and Fio cuz all of these teams are above us in the table.
5. We dont have many games left to the end of the season.
6. Your comparison is ridiculous. Jube were utter shit when Frosinone got a point against them. Allegri was still looking for the proper scheme, starters and tactics. Once he found them and Jube has started to win easily against teams like Frosinone.
7. I haven’t known that i have to be a coach to share my view. The funny thing with Mancini’s subs is that he make them usually around 75-80, no matters that we have a lead or we are down. This shows that he actually has no particular plan and just relying to the “lucky” substitute.
Let me ask you some questions:
1.Do you think that it is easy to build style of play in 1 and a half year with more then 10+ new players coming from different leagues and different style of plays?
2.Do you think it was not? We scored with Murillo and Miranda and Perisic while Kondogbia,Telles,Jovetic and Melo are deacent players only Montoya was the one who floped really hard, but then again do you think you would be able to buy 11 new players and that not a single one would flop? Just look at some big names that floped in last few years do you think it was mistake for Man utd to bring Di maria or Falcao? and yet again they floped..
3.The year Mazzari coached us was a different season and lot of clubs preformed way worse then this season, and while getting 60-70 points usually means you will reach CL in Serie A this season it will not be near enough…so you tell me is it deserved for R Madrid to spend 1 billion and win 1 CL in 10 years? Id rather have Inter spend less and take its time to build the team because every football fan knows it takes time to build a wining team, this is not Football manager..
4.Things like that can effect a teams performance, but then again it doesn’t have to ’cause there are lot of other things that effect a player and a team, sometimes things fall into place and sometimes they don’t…But if you expected us to reach CL just because you thought it would be easy as we are not in EL and can concantrate on Serie A you,my friend, are an idiot because you can’t predict how good season the other clubs will have and this year Napoli and Fiorentina played lot better then last year while Roma and Juventus keept their performance from last year which made it lot harder to reach the third spot.
5.What about it? We got knocked out in semi final against Juventus (The strongest team in Italy atm) after we scored 3 goals and went on to lose on penaltys, for me that was a good try.
6.Yes i do,if you don’t i repeat you are idiot. But you can’t expect us to play like Barcelona if we brought 11 new players it takes time dude..Do you think anyone else would be able to create style of play with so many new players in just 1 whole year at the club? Even Mourinho tells all the time that he is to be judged in his second full season not the first one..
7.Time wasting, tactical setup, sometimes it can be because of injuries etc it doesn’t mean i agree with that but i respect our coaches decision…
And just one last thing,in football you can never know how the season will go especially in Serie A and EPL and if you wan’t to win something every season i recomend you go and cheer for Bayern or R Madrid or Barcelona because they don’t have competition in their own leagues and can win it 9 times out of 10…True Inter and Serie A fans know how hard it is to even reach CL spot in Serie A not to mention win it so i guess you are not a real fan..
WOW..
i love all of your answer bro..
btw would you prefer Simeone come or Mancini to continue his work ?
Well i have always been in favor of letting a coach have at least 2 whole seasons so i wouldn’t mind Mancini to stay, but if we do get a chance to bring in Simeone i would go all in for him just because,in my opinion at least,Simeone is way better then Mancio and a coach that knows how to give the team the identity and fighting spirit.Even if you look at his Atl. Madrid team you will not see many world class players but you will see 11 players on the field who are ready to fight against anyone for every step of the field and that is why they win, they play as a team and they win as a team…That is how i imagine my Inter and that is why i would like him to come.
1.at least they had to have some style of play, but they dont!!! they dont know what to do with the ball, they cant pass the ball more than three times without make a mistake unless its not that stupid backwards passes and thats something u cant denied or u just watch the result not the games!!!
2. mancini has nothing to do with miranda and murillo transfers they were arrange without him involved(check it if u dont believe me), kondogbia and perisic have some ups and down, but the rest are a total flops…in fact a big one!!
so yes spending so much money and still lacking the players u need is not a good mercato!!! where is our creative player in all players that came to inter???
3. how u can build a football team when u dont trust young players and dont like to give them confidence….kovacic was sold(it was needed because of ffp ok i dont mind), gnoukuri forgot how grass is feeling, palacio was prefered many times infront of all others, same for melo… i dont say that they need to pplay every match, but why not against frosione or against hellas verona whats worst that can happened they took points agains us anyway ever hellas manage to score 3 goals.
i dont care about how much other teams spend…i only care about inter..so i dont watch in other bowls…
4.i never tell u an idiot, why would u do that??? because u lack discipline… u can respect others opinions wihtout swearing and giving names…. u think u are god and i know everything and u are always right???
5.we missed EL last year because of mancini and he was happy because it was good for us in this campaign ..well what happened?
6. no comment i stop reading on word ”idiot”
7.again the stupid ”not real fan” propaganda…is that all u can do?? well my friend i am a true fan from season 93/94 and i’ve seen worst and better but at least we played FOOTBALL!!!!
c’mon mate dont be so rude..
we should respect other people opinion..
maybe you also dont agree with my opinion, because i think qualify for EL is okay for a team that have just buy 11 new players..
and i dont think there are many teams that can play beautifull or qualify for CL with 10 new players in 1 season..
maybe you can see Man City or Real Madrid for example, they try to buy trophy and they had to pay it very expensive..
i wish inter don’t become like those teams..
for me, if DS or Mou dont come i prefer Mancini continue his work..
i dont understand why do u think i want to ”buy” inter a title??? thats not true i just want to watch inter to play beatiful football that can attract people on the stands but thats not the case… also i think we spent too much money and i am counting also so called future buys because one way or another we will have to pay for them… also i dont see any progrress in the style of play and believe i watch almost every match not just check the result after the match… last match i already cant handle and decide that its not worthy to loose my time anymore… nothings changed just words about how we will improve, we need to work hard..dont worry ots just preseason, dont worry its just first league matches everyone is struggleling, dont worry we are winning(1:0no style),dont worry we dont play good football in december and january, dont woory its new year with so many new player, dont worry next year we will be better….
well i can spoil u the result if nothings change in the summer we will not be better!!!
Tell me what would you do if you are so smart? who would you buy considering our FFP restirctions? Which coach would you bring in that would gurantee you “beatiful” football (something that you can see in La Liga but not really in a league like Serie A which concatrates on tactical aproach more then just showing off) and titles?
No one is saying that they like what they see and every true fan would like us to play more atractive and more effective but it is not easy thing to acomplish and with all big name managers taken and with prices for players going thru the roof (Lets face it if you want a young kid with potential you need to splash out 20M,for allready compleate player you need at least 30-40M which we do not have) so what would you do?
when all that is taken in consideration Mancini is probably the bigest name we could bring in,and we did a good job building a foundations for the future because this is the first time we have a deacent squad on which we can build on…
I’m not defending Mancini or am i Mancini lover,i’m just being realistic and things look brighter for our future then last 5 years so be patient and suport your club thru good and bad..
my bad,
what i mean is many team that have just buy so many player cant play beautifully or qualify for CL..
Delusional?? Just trying to keep realistic here – this is real life not FM2016 or Fifa or something where you can change a hole team in one summer and win everything with the right tactic stright ahead!
Your questions are pretty childish to say the least but okay I’ll try to answer them for you…
1: Play like shit; when? We played a certain kind of football before christmas which changed after Christmas mainly because Mancini wanted the team to score more and play better football – which we did! Besides Juve havn’t played exciting football ever! But still they keep on winning! Some actually says that “beautiful football belongs in Spain where as winning football belongs to Italy!” – maybe you should go watch Barcelona play instead of Inter!
2: Your transfer mercato was AWESOME!
3: we did NOT spend 100m + euros (I guess you talk about euros and not some kind of shitty currency from a no-name country somewhere.
We have a lot of on-loan players. Broso and Telles and Ljajic are on loan until this summer. I guess we will buy up Broso’s last half for 8 or something but not sure about Ljajic’s 11,5 buy-out agreement!
Jojo, Miranda, Eder are all on loan until next year (2017) and I think Jojo will return this summer to City or else we will have to buy him next summer. Miranda will be bought up 2017 but don’t know about Eder.
Yes we spend alot on Kondogbia (38,5) but we got the same for Kovacic, and Murillo was bought for 8 I think and we got around 5 I think for Kuz, plus Perisic was bought in for 20 m but we got around 17-18 mil for Shaqiri, so we were really pretty well covered on the transfer market – which FIFA also stated recently!
4:True I thought not playing in Europe would benefit our current campaign BUT we all knew that sqeazing in between Juve, Roma and Napoli would be extreamly hard!
5: what about it: we trashed Juve!
6: we are playing 4-2-3-1 almost in every game and have played more or less like that all year, changing from a 4-3-3 with Kondogbia in midfield with medel and Broso at times to a 4-2-3-1 with medel and broso in mid with Ljajic infront..
7: we play once a week – how can they be tired early on in the game?
– grow up and get realistic and appreciate what Mancini has done this year (we finished 9th last year and will finish 4th this year) and what he is going to build on next year as well, or go and watch Barcelona!
