After endless weeks of rumours, Inter Milan have confirmed the capture of Turkish international Caner Erkin on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Fenerbahce. The 27-year-old defender has signed a 3 year contract and will officially join the club on the 1st of July.

Im from turkey, he is one of the best 5 left backs in the world. Very good technically(uses most of the corners free kicks etc at fenerbahce and previous national team[before calhanoglu joined]) very good at dribbleing and making a cross, suprising shoots from distance. And best of all, plays with his heart and works a lot. Negative side: defending is just decent but has still a potential about defending so im expecting him to learn it better here
i’m not mad at this. especially for free. apparently he is better then Telles (whom i thought played well when he got the chance). we still need another fullback though.
This is a good signing IMO, especially considering that we got him for free. Turkish league fans rate him as the best fullback in their league. Telles is supposedly worse than him, and was still amongst best fullbacks at Inter, so if Erkin adapts well, he could be a good signing. With that said, some people expect him to be the next Messiah who will fix our defense. Don’t expect that, he is a very offensive fullback and he won’t magically make our defense great again. He is not the perfect fullback, but a good signing none the less IMO.
thats my main problem with him, another fullback (after jonathan, pereira, wallace, montoya, nagatomo, telles, just to name a few from recent years) who cant defend – and that should be the #1 trait of a fullback to begin with.
i still expect another signing for the wing(s)…
