Samir Handanovic spoke in length to Corriere dello Sport, here’s what he had to say:

Playing in the Europa League with a reduced list of 21 players is not likely to be too big a handicap. At the beginning it will be hard because we will have so many trips, we will face distant teams and but must always hold the high concentration as it will be complicated. If we can pass the group stage, though, the competition will become beautiful. Even with the list limited to 21 players, Inter will start to win, then you’ll see.

He then spoke of his retirement from international football: “Is my farewell to the national team for definite? It’s the decision I took, and I will not have second thoughts. There has been a change of generation, and, after 10 years with Slovenia, all those who I started have almost all stopped also. I do not go there to accumulate attendances and I realised it was right to give space to others. If the national team needs me for a special occasion in the coming years, then at that time you can count on me, but I’ve made made a choice. Dream? They all do and they’ve right to have dreams because they can give you something extra with them in mind.”
