Diego Milito will always have a place in the heart of all Inter Milan fans for his remarkable service during his time in Italy, especially for his brace against Bayern Munich that saw Inter win the UEFA Champions League in 2010. Speaking to El Grafico in Argentina, he had a few things to say about his career, Mourinho and more.
On Mourinho: ”He acted very well with us. I think that he needed a little bit of that special image on the outside to defend the team as well as to take away any pressure.”
On why he wore the number 22: ‘‘When I arrived at the club, he told me: ”I know you want to wear number 22, the number I had at Real Zaragoza.” He came to Paolo Orlandoni and said ”I need you to do me a favor and you can’t say no.” And from there on, I wore #22.”
On the city: ”I have a lot of friends in Milan, the city where I lived for 5 years. The people there clearly don’t forget. I went to Italy last year and they all showed me respect.”
