According to Sportitalia, Inter is trying to get Axel Witsel not this year, but next year. The Belgian midfielder’s contract is set to expire in 2017. Thus instead of signing him for (high) fee from Zenit Saint Petersburg, Inter would try to sign him for free next year. Inter would at least try this method to see if such method is indeed viable. Meanwhile, Witsel has repeatedly stated his desire to leave the Russian club this summer to “play in a bigger league.” The versatile midfielder, who previously played for Benfica before moving to Zenit for 40 million euros, is reportedly a transfer target of many clubs such as Everton, Stoke City, and several top serie A clubs.
