It all went pearshaped for Frank De Boer and his Inter in their Serie A opener away at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi when Chievo Verona beat the Nerazzurri convincingly thanks to a Man of The Match performance by Valter Birsa who scored a brace. Inter’s poor performance is also reflected below in the ratings as Frank De Boer’s Ajax/Barcelona inspired 3-1-3-3 suicide tactic collapsed against a Chievo that proved beyond all reasonable doubt that Inter aren’t built to play Tiki taka football.
Samir Handanovic – 5: Completely no chance on any of the goals. Was let down completely, yet again, by his defence who conceded too much to opponents.
Danilo D’Ambrosio – 3,5: “I’m no Maicon” he said after the match. Thanks, we know Danilo. Can’t cross the ball, awful marking & poor positioning. As per usual.
Andrea Ranocchia – 3: WHY IS HE STILL AT INTER!? And why is he called on to play?! Was as always awful in defense & missed 2 absolute sitters, 1 in each half.
Joao Miranda – 5: Isn’t used to playing witch such poor defenders around him so he was annoyed & irritable the whole night. Did his best considering circumstances.
Yuto Nagatomo – 3,5: WHY IS HE STILL AT INTER!? Part 2. Literally looks & plays like a headless chicken on amphetamine. Chaos & incompetence personified.
Geoffrey Kondogbia – 5: Looked well up for it, especially in the 1st half. Looks better physically than he did all year last season. Decent performance.
Gary Medel – 5: Battled, fought & worked his socks off tonight as per usual. Why didn’t he play in the middle of defense with Miranda in 4-2-3-1, Frank De Boer?
Antonio Candreva – 5: No-one disputes his quality but why on earth he started when he clearly isn’t 100% fit is beyond logic let alone why he played 60 mins. Brought off in the 61st minute.
Ever Banega – 5,5: Shows in small bursts what a quality player he is. Oozes of class, intelligence & tactical brilliance. Was substituted in the 70th minute. Oh if he had only signed last season…
Eder – 4,5: Another player that wasn’t anywhere near 100% fit yet played 75 mins! Looked uncomfortable with the ball, sluggish, slow & tired. Came off in the 75th minute.
Mauro Icardi – 4: Totally & utterly invisible until the 61st minute when Ivan Perisic came on & started giving him balls to work with. Icardi has to have support otherwise he’s invisible, everyone seems to see this except the three last Inter coaches.
Ivan Perisic – 5,5: Should have started today, no discussion. Looked hungry, fit but above all like he wanted to play football.
Marcelo Brozovic – 5: His passing lets him down from time to time but he makes up for it with hunger, tenacity, mobility & attitude. Should have played from the start, instead he came on in the 70th minute.
Rodrigo Palacio – 5,5: The veteran striker showed in the brief spell he was on the pitch why he once (?) was a class player.
Frank De Boer – 3: Decided to prove all fears & worries about him at once: deploying a Barcelona/Ajax inspired 3-1-3-3 with this squad is beyond stupid. Nagatomo is no Jordi Alba, Ranocchia is no Pique and D’Ambrosio is most certainly not Dani Alves. Threw away 3 points and the chance to start this season with a little bit of stability after the chaos and turmoil recently when he, aside from the harakiri tactics he deployed, also played a visibly unfit Candreva for 60 minutes at the expense of a visibly matchfit Perisic, decided NOT to play Gary Medel in the middle of defense, a position where he’s won 2 Copa America’s with Chile 2 years in a row, both times beating an Argentina with Higuain, Aguero, Messi etc, as well as fielding Ranocchia, D’Ambrosio and Nagatomo next to each other all at once. Unforgiveably amateurish tactics and coaching against Chievo.
Inter’s performance – 4: Unwatchable. Sterile & impotent when going forward, shaky & nervous when defending. Played & looked more like a relegation contender, than a top 3 challenger.
Massimiliano Irrati – 5: Destroyed the match by making one incorrect decision after another. Incredibly picky & ruined the rhythm of the match by constantly blowing his whistle.

You Actually think Medel was a big part of Chile’s Coppa America win over Argentina? the guy got a 5.5 rating and for me he was the worst player on the field for Chile in that final. Remember him giving the ball away for Higuain? any other game and Higuain would have buried it. Besides, if you want a player that has won trophies why not sign Simone Padoin from Cagliari ?

I have to express my thoughts on some of the grades and in general I do not understand how Nima grades. In my opinion he really needs to be consistent. I mean, just try to compare the individual grades to each other and tell me if they reflect the players actual performances one an other.
Ranocchia(3): We all know that Nima absolutely hates this player but he has the tendency to let his personal opinions intervene with his professionalism, but his hatred towards Ranocchia is just childish.
Dont get me wrong, Rano should not be a Inter starter and he did not play well yesterday, but I do not think that he deserves all that hatred. So many poor performances yesterday and his was definitely not the worst.
Ninas love towards Brozovic(5) is also reflected in Brozo´s grade. He looses way too many balls as of yesterday was no different. If we can sell him for 25m then we could spend that money in a much much better way.
Lets play Medel(5) in defence or dont play him at all. Our midfield will never deliver with him controlling it.
Kondogbia(5) was inters best player in my opinion and he finally looks like he will contribute to our team, but he needs a intelligent and stable player next to him controlling the play. (not Sissoko) because he will never be someone who can take control the team.
Lets be honest, Candreva(5) did not play well yesterday and the fact that he is a new player, or not in form should not be considered when grading him for his performance.
Icardi(4) could not have done much different as he was not served at all, not really his fault. Could it be that Nima is angry with our captain and the Wanda saga? Because 4 is way off when you look at the other grades mentioned.
Anyways,
Inter, sadly has a very very long way to go. We will need serious patience and realize where we are at the moment, before expecting anything other than just serious long term plan..

Lol naah I like ur point, but if u read what I write in her u would have known what I like, I want Luis gustavo biglia sissoko joao mario physical players medel shouts alot but easy to manipulate. I was comparing kovacic to kondogbia what is the difference, with kondogbias physical appearance he looses more balls then kovacic no vision, but I don’t understand this pouty with kondogbia and medel they killing us, they have no class.
I’m starting to think that Icardi is not playing with heart anymore, at least in certain point- he just stay there waiting for a ball, whereas you’ll see Eder running all the way upfront—
3-1-3-3?Tiki-taka?Are you are on drugs Nima?
I made u laugh that’s good, I would like 2 sit with u and drink some herbal tea and talk football with u, and see who is the ignorant one, u little Dick whisper.
Kondogbia is nothing no brain nothing, technically poor tactically poor just runs around like headless chicken, I see nothing in these players I watched them last year, medel and kondogbia same old same, medel is not inter calibre easy to bully toughness is not how loud u scream, look at miranda when hes on the ball he’s firm U little popcorn fart.
Watch the game we get dictated bay chievo and u talking about messi u little popcorn fart, that midfield is crap and when we meet biglia or de rossi worse to come.
I don’t understand this rating and the kind words for kondogbia and medel they are the worst here.
Look at it the positive way: it can only get better. It simpy cannot get any worse than that…
you are wrong. Inter will get hammered by Sassoulo 7-0….
Karma
It will get worse until we get better defense
Seriously shocking event from De Boer. Several mistakes tonight and all of it makes me wonder if this all is somehow a plot against Inter and their march back to the top. FK the management, FK the managers and above all FK the players. I’m back to the start of next season.
FDB shouldn’t have any ratings, it was his first official game in a very tough league, he lacked players, he didn’t choose any of them in the market and he just came two weeks ago, it’s awful to rate him, give the guy a better chance to show his intelligence.. I’m sure he will improve in every game passing
Fdb chose to manage inter knowing what squad he was inheriting so of course he gets rated for his man management with the team you agreed to coach theres no excuses for fdb or suning group, aussilo or the players we have the transfer window shuts in 2weeks if fdb doesn’t like this squad he must make changes fdb must sign new left and right backs asap and get 2 new centre backs to compete with murillo and miranda forget about joao mario, fdb must get rid of rennochia, d ambrosio, nagatomo, or leave them sitting on the bench permanently because fdb has his coaching career on the line and this is his 1 big chance to show the world how good a manager he is but equally if he fails it will crush his management career so fdb you must act immediately because these inters defenders are going to kill your career
True , all u said is the truth, but all I said there is that he needs time to fix that shit of a squad! It’s shit! A fucking diarrhea..
Anyway if there’s something to notice is that our club has huge problems, no matter who come to coach, this team is always bad with the same approach in each game for the last 5 years
brozo had a shit game; hunger and tenacity are all good, but he was too wired. he gave most of his passes straight to the opposition in counter attacking areas, and was quick to yell and point at his team mates. kondogbia was good, banega showed class and leadership. Miranda was solid as usual, d’ambrosio, as most games, is just not good enough; nowhere near. you can never fault nagatomo’s work rate, but he was given too much responsibility, even he cant cover an entire flank by himself. for all intents and purposes I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised by ranocchia; I thought he would suck more, if that makes sense? true he missed golden scoring opportunities and he made mistakes reading the game, which he always does; no surprise, but he also did some good, made some decent tackles, always looked to pass the ball forward, which he rarely got wrong. I really hope FDB can bring back some of the andrea of strammaccioni’s era. that being said; we still desperately need a solid CB this mercato.
this loss has to fall down to the coach, who chose to field an awkward formation, that left players like candreva and icardi out of the game. the players seemed to forget how to move around without the ball, were unsure what the extent of their responsibilities are and what areas should they cover. regardless of how match unfit they all are, is it possible that a trio of icardi, eder and candreva be this stagnant? specially when having banega behind them?
I always hope for the best, maybe this game is what FDB needed to realise that serie a is no eredivsie, cant experiment on match days. I hope he sticks with the 4-3-3 long enough for the team to be comfortable to try and add to that, but two weeks is too soon! I also like to think that we always started the season strongly then fell behind after xmas, maybe this year will be the opposite? slowly rising has to beat suddenly falling right?
but the pessimist in me thinks this season is one to forget for inter. looks like a year zero from a technical aspect. if FDB stays, it would be ridiculous of us to expect much from him this year. I hope I’m wrong
I really hope we still have time for Blind or Verthongen! We need backups fo CB – and those two can also cover left flank.
I didn’t see the match due to timezones, but as I can tell, nothing has changed regarding our shaky defense. I agree about that Medel should have been used as CB
Hope this was a blunder by FDB – what a nightmare to loose what should be a ‘3-pointer’. Anyway, sure he recovers well.
My heart was bleeding when I watched the match.
FDB try to give all players a chance that some of them will not get again. against chievo is kinda selection test.
We hope so
To be honest I don’t know why every coach does this with thoes 3. Can’t we take a chance with some younger players! I really hope Fdb realizes this like now. I’m not blaming the coach he has time to act. I know we all wanted a victory but these things happen but what’s really annoying are the fans that behave like this and bash the club every time something like this happens.
because every coach inter have, don’t really have an option.. look at our bench what option did he had!? young players!? did you see how bad our young players are!? they’re simply not ready.. we need to stay calm.. i agree with you we need to learn how to support and critized the team but no bashing is needed..
Fdb and inter have had 2weeks to make new defensive acquisitions so theres no excuse plus caner erkin would have been better than nagatomo or d ambrosio, im staying calm but im sick of inters reluctance to adress obvious problem’s fdb took over 2weeks ago and 1st thing he was asked was his opinion on inter Milan squad he has done nothing to improve our defense why?,,, and now erkin wants to go because he doesn’t fit in fdb team well surely if erkin is not a fdb player neither is rennochia, nagatomo or dumbass
erkin still has fitness problem, who else!? santon!? a player that failed his medical test 2 times, and even mancini don’t trust his fitness level.. come on.. this is a team ‘s sport, 2 weeks is not enough to build your own team with your own idea.. don’t you see this coming when the management decide to change coach only 10 days before the season start!? be realistic, we can’t judge de boer from just 1 game.. let’s wait and see..
Yes im all for fdb succeeding at inter but im realistic and if inter want fdb to suceed they need to work with him in giving him a choice of who he want at fullbacks and with 2weeks of mercato left it gives inter a chance to equip fdb with at least a better choice of defenders so basically our recruiting official aussilo or branca need to bring in affordable competition at lb, rb, cb and striker. And forget about 45million on 1 player and instead plug defense with 45 milloln plus the sale of brozo could fix other issues I mean this is common sence and its what aussilo n branca get payed to do so instead of us brainstorming ideas on here WHY AINT AUSSILO N BRANCA DOING IT?? Maybe because they have become so complacent and dysfunctional we need to replace them with a fresh new replacement for ausillo n branca
that’s why i said before.. it’s our management fault.. changing coach 2 weeks before the season start is suicidel.. and they don’t give the coach a freedom to choose his own player in transfer market is another moronic move..
what a poor decision to start with 3 at the back from FDB the team is not ready to play that formation.
5 for Medel is a bad joke when he was directly involved in the second goal + generally looked utterly clueless throughout the game.

Yup i was shocked FDB played that tactic. It was his fault considering what type of players at his disposal. So spot on. I really hope we can stand to wait until four months to his FDB version of Inter. *finger crossed*
Don’t put your expectation too high mate 😀
Agreed if there was one bright spot it was him. He was the only one who was dribbling with the ball. It’s great to see how hard it is for the opposition to take the ball from him when in possession. We need to utilize the fact that he draws 2 player on himself each time and opens space. So mUchiha he was forced to attempt to dribble out of danger or just pass back because no one opened up for him. I think he will have a good year. Now let get a good full back and let’s never play rano again. Either go with a youth defender at this point or play Medel back there.
Brozo was good as well
Dumbrosio – Nagashit – Crapnocchia : the trio of dumb, dumber and dumbest.
Surely we will have a great season with them LOL
Ranocchia is the ‘Eric the Eel’ of modern football! Such expectations, such a joke..
I just watch the game only few minute when we got 1 goal behind, and you right, this Rano ‘Eric the Eel’ is truly a joke.. He headed the ball front but the ball goes behind him LOL.. And first goal He also Dmbro cannot cover the shoot..
agree with the rating, but icardi did not put a foot wrong and handanovic could of done better on the second
