Eder spoke with Gazzetta dello Sport as he took time out from the teams official presentation for the 2016/17 at the Meazza: “Since March I’ve felt that I must leave…but I have always remained calm. I’m sure that everything’s in place here in order for me to do well, also because this time I’m preparing for the start of the season. Arriving at a new club in February is never easy.”
“The defeat to Verona? Maybe the coaching change did not help, but De Boer rightly arrived with his own ideas, and now it’s up to us to assimilate them as soon as possible. Surprised by the three-man defence? No, we had tried it during the week, but I do not know if we will return to four against Palermo. For sure we have to win to give a satisfaction to our fantastic fans.”

“Since March I’ve felt that I must leave…” This is exactly the type of player Inter needs to avoid signing. How does Eder, as a professional, struggle after coming to a new club, and immediately adapt the mindset that he needs to leave? I knew he was a complete waste of money from day one, but I thought he’d have some sort of impact in the team, at the very least helping Icardi to get open more, but no, he has been utterly useless. We need to sign player’s with a champion’s mentality, and even some that come off as arrogant or cocky like Maurito does at times. I still don’t think he should be our captain, but he is one of the very few players who shows some grinta at least. A lot of people gave him shit last year for his comments about not receiving the ball in attacking areas frequent enough because when he does, he usually scores. He was definitely right that he wasn’t getting enough scoring opportunities because he had if not the best, one of the best conversion rates in the world last season, but in some minds he was wrong for blaming his teammates. In my opinion, he was just venting his frustration that the players around him weren’t playing to the level he, as the captain, expected, but due to inexperience with the armband didn’t say it in the right way. We need this type of mentality throughout the club, holding every player accountable, no matter their talent level, to play to the highest level possible. Ranocchia and Nagatomo are just simply too far behind in talent and/or intelligence to hold to this standard, but I’ve always felt that Brozovic and D’Ambrosio could give much more than they have been because we’ve seen glimpses. D’Ambrosio in particular really pissed me off recently with his “I’m not Maicon” comment. I think we were all aware of that, there are maybe one or two fullbacks that can compare to Maicon currently, but that doesn’t mean we’re ok with you playing like shit. They need to show some character. D’Ambrosio used to make pretty good runs into the attacking third as a wingback under Mazzarri, but as a fullback under Mancini he seemingly forgot that getting forward to support play up the wings is still a responsibility as a fullback too. Why do we only get to see Epic Brozo’s curling long shots only two to three times a season, yet Guarin had the grinta to murder hundreds, maybe even thousands of birds? It annoys me because as fans I don’t believe we’re asking too much, just that they give us their everything, as redundant as that might sound.
Not only happiness to fans, but morale to the team as well. This team of ours needs to adapt to a winning mentality and things will go a lot smoother from there. But hard to have a winning mentality when we are losing to Chievo. So yeah, we need some wins under our belt for morale as well.
