The arrival of Antonio Candreva already meant that Stevan Jovetić’s chances of regular first team football were limited this season. Now that Gabigol is all but confirmed to be joining Frank De Boer’s squad in January, Jovetić’s days in black and blue are numbered and so the club have been working to find a solution for him.

Piero Ausilio continued negotiations into the night with the player’s representative, with the objective of reaching an agreement for the player to rejoin Fiorentina. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, there is now a deal in place allowing Jovetić to play under Paulo Sousa this season. The deal will be formulated by an initial loan spell, during which La Viola will pay the entirety of the Montenegrin’s wages.

Whilst not an outright sale, it is important to note that Inter will save 7m gross on wages having sealed this deal. With the impending arrivals of João Mário and Gabigol, this could also prove crucial in adhering to Financial Fair Play restrictions.
