Erick Thohir spoke to MetroTVNews from Jakarta in his homeland of Indonesia regarding Inter’s market. Here are his words: “As expected, we didn’t add many players. In our roster there are very good players, it’s remarkable for us adding 5 new fantastic ones. We expect Ansaldi to be our best full back and Banega, Joao Mario, Candreva and Gabigol to be the squad’s backbone. The Italian transfer campaign has been more interesting than the Spanish and the German ones. Napoli, Inter and Juventus were very aggressive.”

Finally. Finally Thohir did a great job this summer, but still not CL material .By the way AC Milan will very aggressive coming too
On paper Inter are strong enough to compete with Roma and Napoli for the CL spots for sure. Whether it will happen or not, comes down to FDB and how fast he can implement his ideas and get the players to gel.
If the first two games are any indication, then it might take a while and in that case its probably not realistic for Inter to get back into the CL next season. Napoli and Roma have the advantage of not having changed that much and especially Roma have looked very under Spaletti.
And yea, Milan will probably go nuts in the market next summer.
This winter*
“Napoli and Roma have the advantage of not having changed that much.” You’re right, they only sold their best players. Replacing Pjanic, who contributed to 26.5% of Roma’s goals with 10 goals and 12 assists, and Higuain, who contributed to a whopping 47.5% of Napoli’s goals with 36 goals and 2 assists, shouldn’t be too difficult. I’m not saying that this means that Inter are ahead of them on paper, in fact I see all three teams as being relatively even, but it will all come down to who can carry good form the longest and create a gap. A big part of carrying good form comes through clutch contribution from your big names, and while Inter still have players like Perisic and Icardi to count on, we’ve also added the likes of Candreva and Banega, all of whom have proven reliable when a clutch goal is needed. Roma and Napoli on the other hand now have to turn elsewhere. Roma turning to the likes of Dzeko and El Shaarawy, who are known for big boosts and dips in form, and Napoli having to turn to Milik, who is young, somewhat unproven, and new to Serie A. Consequently, I’m not directly comparing any of these teams until at least December, this allows each team fair time to adjust to new players and a new coach in Inter’s case. Although, as was proven last year, things can still change quite dramatically in the second half of the season, but I think any Inter fan who thought we were winning the Scudetto last year was kidding themselves, but I can’t blame them cause I had some false hopes too. I’m optimistic for this season, and could truly see Inter placing 2nd if the team gels under De Boer the way I think they can, but still well behind Juventus who should run away with league as they have been the past few seasons.
And we already have 5 “fantastic” players..Nagashitomo,D’umbrosio, Froggy, Melon and Granpalacio.
LMFAO !!!!!!
Can’t agree on Palacio. He was amazing and carried us on his back when we needed him the most. I’ll never forget that backheel against Milan. He might be old, but still has more class in his pinky than all the rest you mentioned.
I hope ansaldi become pur best full back even in the pre season didn’t play that good.
De Laurentiis: “We are the team that improved the most.” :D:D:D
Such demented. Very delusion. Wow.
He’s right, they got Diawara, Maksimovic, Marko Rog. They basically sorted out their problem at CB and added quality covers in other areas. As of now, they’re a complete team. On paper, they’re the second best team in Serie A.
We have good players too. We are missing some players in key positions however.
I don’t want to live in a world in which De Laurentiis is right. They didn’t bring in world class names, but it’s not like they didn’t want to, it’s just that Napoli isn’t a big international brand. But I do agree that the invested smartly that Higuain money. We’ll see who’s better on the field.
Napoleon have invested the money correctly ever since they first sold lavezzi, then did the same when they sold cavanni and have done it again with higuain. We have only done that once with Ibrahimovic, mancini is stupid he can bring the big names in but can’t use them, bought Shaqiri played him as a trequartistia, no idea what to do with kovacic he just needed to play the players to the strengths and allow them to grow organically, De boar hopefully will do that, next manager we get should follow this mould mancini is a poor man’s mourinho he will get the players he wants if not bitch about it but once he does get them he has only idea what to do with them. We should never have bought jovetic, he did give us 6 points last season but he thought he was the main striker, he will never be that because of icardi and now gabigol would have preferred keeping shaqiri, using 4-3-3 with perisic icardi shaqiri and if there was an injury well we would have dealt with it then.
Poor Erkin
Was thinking the same thing. What did he do to deserve this much abuse. He can’t be worse than Nagatomo and D’umbo.
I remember De Boer saying everybody has the same chance to stay at the team…
but I imagine it was more like…
“EVERYBODY has the same chance to stay at this team I am managing, EXCEPT YOU ERKIN, I just know I had to sell you from even before my plane landed in milan.”
“Everybody has the chance to prove himself. Except for this guy. Fuck this guy in particular.” 😀
