Frank De Boer spoke at the press conference today ahead of his first big match in Serie A with Inter. The Nerazzurri will host rivals and defending champions, Juventus, at San Siro tomorrow.
“We’re facing a very good side, everyone knows that,” said De Boer. “I have great respect for what they’ve achieved in recent years. We need to make sure we’re well-prepared and draw on our fans’ support. This side proved they could beat Juventus in the Coppa Italia semi-final last year.”
“It’ll be my first Inter v Juventus match and I’m sure it will be a great experience. I can’t wait to walk out at a sold-out stadium. The players know that it’s a special match – they don’t need any motivation to give their all. All I ask is that they give their all tomorrow, then against Empoli, then again against Bologna and so on. It’s tough to stay focused and give everything all the time, but that’s professional sport. You don’t win titles by beating the big teams, but by winning all the other games. That’s why we need to give 100% at all times.”
De Boer admitted that there was pressure around the club after the loss to Be’er Sheva, but made it clear that it was nothing he wasn’t used to.
“When you’re the coach of Inter, it’s normal to have pressure. We’re all working hard to improve every week, but obviously not everything can be perfect in just over a month. I’m sure that we’ll be able to put Inter back where it belongs. I had an idea of what I might find here in terms of the media. It’s the same at all clubs. It’s not easy to achieve results straight away, but with the quality of the players we have and the support from the club I’m sure we’ll get there.”
De Boer was then asked if this has been the toughest moment in his coaching career in which he replied: “I don’t know if this is the toughest moment of my career. There was huge pressure at Ajax too. I know that I can look in the mirror and say that I’m doing everything I can. I made the decision to take this job knowing that I could take the pressure. Obviously, that pressure eases off when you achieve positive results.”
The Inter boss also spoke more about the Europa League defeat against Hapoel, encouraging his side to stay focused in the face of any setbacks.
“We lost our heads a bit after conceding against Hapoel, but I analysed it with the players and told them that we needed to continue playing in the same way, without changing our approach to the game. I might change things tactically, but in terms of our head and heart it needs to be the same no matter what. We need to respect every opponent. My staff and I analyse every team really thoroughly and study footage before drawing conclusions. That happens regardless of who the opposition is. Sometimes the details change, perhaps in terms of pressing and tactical tweaks, and we react to that.”
De Boer said that any errors Inter committed throughout the season so far would not be acceptable against Sunday’s opponents, as Inter would lose the match that way.
“It’s dangerous to make mistakes against any side in the first or second phases of the play, but a team like Juventus will punish us straight away. We need to be mentally prepared. So far when we’ve conceded goals they’ve come at a time when we’ve been playing well and creating chances. When that happens we need to make sure we don’t change our approach to the game. If possible, we want to score first and prevent our opponents from getting back into the game.”
The Dutchman was not willing to announce the squad line up against Juventus, but acknowledged the importance of managing his squad well with so many matches coming up.
“I need to think in the long term – we can’t take too many risks with a long season and four games in 11 days ahead. On paper of course all coaches want all their players available for every game, especially in terms of building up that innate understanding. I’ll have to take risks with some decisions. Those not involved on Thursday were hard at work here in Appiano Gentile. The fitness is there now. We’ll focus on tactics this afternoon.”
Gabriel Barbosa trained for the first time as a Nerazzurri player on Saturday and De Boer revealed that the Brazilian will be in attendance for the Derby d’Italia.
“He’ll be at the stadium tomorrow and he’s had his first training session today. He’ll link up with the rest of the squad soon and that will give us another option. We’re all desperate to get him fit enough to show what he can do. First of all we need to weigh up his fitness.”
De Boer also called on the fans to get behind the team tomorrow night.
“They need to give their support to Inter because it’s very important for the team, especially in the tough times. They players need to feel the love from their fans.”

lol. that was a red card and a penalty for juventus!!! he wasn’t offside.
Mancini haters now become FDB haters..
haters just gonna hate..
yes? what? you mentioned my name without inviting mw to the party? I’ll sack you all!!
Everyone is talking like they’re the president or the coach, how about we just sit and wait
sack FDB ?!?!
INTER IS ITS OWN WORST ENEMY !
That would be the dumbest thing at this point
It silly to talk about sacking FDB now, the season has already started and its not possible to get a high profile coach who can make an immediate impact anyways. Lets see what FDB can do until christmas, then the league position and performance can be evaluated and then if CL qualification seems unlikely, then it can be discussed if the club should poke around and consider changing coaches for 17/18.
However, all the FDB fanboys on this site should shut their teenage mouths and accept that FDB makes mistakes and there is absolutely nothing wrong by pointing out these mistakes and giving criticism because of it. Just like it was done with Mancini, the management and every player in the squad.
Dear casperv and other De Boer haters, please be noted that Ausilio called the people who suggests changing the coach at this point as “stupid”. So please, ease off and enjoy the ride for now. Let’s continue this topic at least a month from today.
Periscope and candreva were isolated in the stupid 4-3-3 system we play, because in that system the wingers needs help from overlapping fullbacks -which we haven’t got, at least not of high enough quality! And that’s why I wrote after Palermo that we should play 3-4-1-2 because in that way Banega will flourish, Icardi get the support in the box he needs and wingers won’t relay on help from fullbacks but will have help from the central mid and even from the second striker!
We changed system and became “attacking machine” as you call it, BUT this isn’t the way de Boer wants to play!
A midfield trio with JM, Kondo and Banega and an offensive trio with MI9, Perisic and Candreva and we’ll win it.
Seriously, teams dont just become great by magic it takes hard work and time or shit loads of cash. Which we might have the latter but cant spend.
This guy is mentioning psg and man city. Smh
And you mentioned Asia, a place we didn’t sat down a foot this summer… shiiiiit…. sunning has shit loads of money to spend and they will!
Some of you guys are insane and need to stop playing fifa so damn much. Sacking a coach after 3 games, i guess allegri shouldve been fired last year right.
Idiots what players wants to play for or go to a team that changes coaches ever other month? Get real
Handanovc and Ambrose talked the players being unfit, and De Boer as well – Zanetti on the other hand counterdicted that and say it was all bull and all big teams travel the world in now-days pre-seasoning! Besides we didn’t lose the other day and almost against Pescara because of bad fitness
The best that make inter failed financially
Yep, the one that truly brought us into the state we’re in now!
Many teams traveled they asses around the world; City, Utd and you name them and they look pretty fit! Just a bad excuse! Besides it wasn’t bad fitness that cursed our defeat on Thursday or outer “all-most” defeat against Pescara!
We travelled the most of any european team And its a documented fact. AND ALL THE TEAMS YOU MENTIONED ARE BETTER AND RICHER!! Do u not get this isnt fifa?
Really?? We went to the States and Sunning owns the club and they are damn rich…. city went to the States and so many other clubs.. psg f.x … just a bad excuse!
We went to Asia as well. Do you know how far the states isnto asia, than back to europe? Non of them did that
And sunnin or not we are under restrictions do u read or not?
Did we play friendlies in Asia??? According to Inter.it we played 4 friendlies in the States in July and 2 in Europe (Ireland/Noraway) plus one in Ancona,Italy, so no we didn’t travel that much compared to other teams!
It’s funny because Mancini wanted WB giant midfielder and att
For zamparini interista. If you put all the blame to de boer remember these lord have some proportion of blame too
hehee, naga doesn’t know the text…
Ausilio already make a statement…yet another don’t care his words.
Every interista suddenly become zamparini
it’s not surprise me anymore about “interista”
Lolololll
Shut the fuck up to you all who want to sack de boer. If you are tired with inter please just support another team. Dont make another hate campaign or #deboerout. I am sick with all your whinning
i predict there will be fuckdeboer soon.. LOL.. they think changing coach would solve the problems.. SMH..
Lolll
It is official, zamparini and his family have become intrista
Oke Kim, I’ll follow your order otherwise your cousin Jong Un will drop nuclear in my democratic country
Wtf..
I am not korean man
Are you not? You sound like them
No mate, but i love korean idol…
Lolll
Good, people can have different opinion here… Let’s accept people who criticized FDB as the person who also love Inter the most. I support Inter since 1997, many high and low experience to support this club, many player and coach come and go, many games I see, many wins and many loses. By the time, my love for this club is bigger than for other thing in my life. You can not suggest people like me to support another team only because I don’t see FDB is the right person to coach Inter.
Calma calma…
It is me in rant mode..
I dont really mean everything that i said
Relax mate
I can’t relax watching people here buliying their brother -casperv only because he has different opinion
Nope, bullying is form of hatred. We love casperv, we were just discussing and arguing. Calma2 bro, u are just too sensitive right now
Okay. Just remind you words like “stfu” is not for arguing
Bro, you really need to stfu too. You are just being too sensitive. Calma2, no need to feel hurt just from stfu
Okay Kim
Yes we can have a different opinion, but maybe to some people here, including me, there are some unrealistic hate opinion only after 4 official matches, which is a little annoying for us..
but yes, we all can have different opinion..
As I see, some people here supports FDB more than the club so it’s annoy me too. It is fair to criticized the manager who don’t deliver result.
Benitez and Gasperini is also criticized after a few game because they didn’t deliver result. when our management realized that they are not the right coach for Inter, it was already to late to save our season.
i always believe sticking to one coach for at least 3 years will do more good, they need time..
i support inter from 98, things that annoy me is inter always impatience with anything..
with the coaches, with youngsters, even with the senior players, they always rushed their decision..
as for Gasperini, he was one example of how
the management rushed their decision in his appointment..
there are also Seedorf, Coco, Giuly, Pirlo, Frey, Simic, Mutu, Adriano etc, etc, etc..
FDB was Netherland’s assistant manager at 2010 world cup (Netherland was a runner-up) and he won Eredivisie 4 times with Ajax (the first manager ever to achieve this in the Dutch league), so i wont call him inexperienced..
i think we really should give FDB time to adapt, he is not just another average lucky coach, he is at least a good coach..
we already have our defence and create scoring chance issues since long time..
under FDB just in 4 matches, we already see we can really create scoring chances from open play now..
dont just bash him because we hate him out of nothing..
I hate Inter to lose againts unknown team from unknown league, so it’s fair for him to be evaluated
agree, but he has no choice..
we have derby d’italia coming, we need the “a” team fresh for it..
and we already know of how our “b” team quality and mostly how their mentality..
Don’t say that our player is worse than that hapoel ben arfa, but the mindset I see here is if we lose it’s the player, if we win it’s FDB.
okay just call me FDB fanboy.. it’s fine with me..
1 thing for sure, let’s hope we win tonight.
The man needs time. I’m personally tired of changing coaches every year. I think it’s time Inter sticks with someone long term. We have the squad, now we just need time. De Boer clearly knows how and what it takes to win. He hasn’t made many tactical errors. The team has a good mentality and I sincerely believe we’ve been somewhat unlucky. Every time our oppositions get one chance, they capitalize and for us it takes us like 10 chances just to put away one. He’s just had a lot of shit to deal with like taking over a completely out of shape team and have this ridiculous expectation of winning every singe game with an unfit squad. It’s just really ignorant to think that we must sack someone after 4 appearances. If Inter sack De Boer, it’l just be a continuation of the last 5 years.
I was about to write you words, you need infinite upvotes
I’m confident the results will come. Whomever we take in his place won’t fix our problems any better and will just delay everything even more. We need stability. It’s obvious the problems in the recent years have not been just the quality, but the mentality as well. These players have been anything BUT calm in recent months. De Boer adapts with every game and is working his ass off, it’ll get easier.
Inter will achieve nothing with the quartet of Dumbrosio, Nagatits, Crapnocchia, Melon and even old Palacio. Most of them have been here for a long time without proving that they are good enough to play for Inter and deliver the results consistently. I call them as zombies. I’ve been watching many times our defensive play is suddenly degraded into Serie-C level when two or three zombies are playing together. We have to get rid those zombies as soon as possible as some players are also getting affected by those under-performers. Murillo was a beast in the first half of last season, today he is just like the bulky version of Dumbrosio and Crapnocchia combo. Broz is also heavily affected. Eder was also affected. Quite strange, isn’t it? I defined this as zombies effect. We have to cut those zombies cycle as soon as possible.
Sack those zombies and replace them with much better and fresh replacements required by FDB. I’m pretty sure, many things will be improved dramatically and much better results will follow shortly when those zombies are finally gone from our squad and replaced with better players. In this situation, FDB should not be blamed at all.
Bro, i plan to go to milan and throw molotov to inter lords. U want to join?
the problem actually is clear..the fullback..every coach of inter pushed to use kind of nagashittomo, crapnochia, melo,more..you all know the result..so this is management problem & need to be replaced
He needs to STFU
Said it at the start FD is not the right man. We need a experience no nonsense zero tolerance coach not a fucking yes man. With this squad we should not loose to shitty fucking teams.
Me too… never understood why he was appointed, and still don’t.
Impatient? So you mean just be patient for the pathetic display and result and Inter back in bottom half again. Either you’re good enough or just go away. I’m tired with your pathetic loser mentality.
So what? Bring capello. Lost 3 matches in row. Sack him. Hire blanc. Lose 3 matches in row. Sack him. Repeat. U want palermo kind of shit
No, because the mentioned coaches all have something de boer hasn’t; experience from coaching many different (national)teams and star players and knows what series a is all about!!
Mate, u need to stfu. You are just depressed and angry. No one in right mind will change coach now. You are not zamparini, arent u?
Just play FM2016 and see can you win all of league match and europa league match with this team and without save game. If you do you can say whatever you like.. Just it
LOL XD
Being a coach of City,Utd,Chelsea,Real,Barca,Juve,Milan or INTER always means you need to deliver right away, not after two months!! That’s why Real change coaches so much and Utd has done it quite a lot in the post-Ferguson area… the thing about “an-ongoing project when you are at big club is an illusion because the fans demands results right away, and the “project” is something you can have at Udinse or Sasuollo, not Inter!
I really can’t see how a player who has been playing at the Euros in June all of a sudden becomes unfit in August, sorry! The players get two weeks of and bring with them programs in order to stay fit- the times of Ronaldinho, are over (where he returned fat as a pig after vacation!
We pressed Palermo and Pescara -two teams fighting for relegation, not Milan or Roma, and were EXTREMLY lucky to win Pescara, THATS a fact!
About the Hapoel game we played like shit but even our reserves so be enough to bet these no-name Israelians!
The biggest problem I see is the lack of dissire and determination from our players…
#deboerout
#capelloin
Next month
#capelloout
#blancin
Repeat
Last one. Diego Simeone please . We invest huge since Suning involved. FDB is not ready for our club.
Of course i prefer simeone over deboer. But he is our coach not simeone. Who shall i support? Of course deboer. We dont have a choice. We need to stick with de boer. Why everyone suddenly becomes zamparini?
To coach a huge team you need experience and both Blanc and especially have loads of that!!
What if that experienced coach fucked up too? Sack him after 1 month. I dont really like deboer. But it is crazy if we sack him now
My point, is that an experience coach will get us results and will make us p,as much more compact and with a defined game-play and especially Capello will make the players sweat if they don’t deliver!!
Fuck that milanista bitch. I would rather have vecchi as our coach rather than him. Failed in england and russia. Fuck that old dino retard
He did fine with both England and especially his first periods with Russia!
Nope. His style is boring and no guarantee he will do good with us. Better stick with frank de gasperini
He he frank de gasperini…. there are no garatuess in life, besides the fact we’ll get our asses kicked tomorrow, and I fear for the game against Empoli as well-a team cleaverly build by the master Sarri!
Nope..
Viva frank de gasperini
You really need to stfu bro
Oh you mean like Mourinho is delivering right away with a loss to Feyenord. Or how Clopo delivered with so many negative results in Liverpool last year.
and mourinho loss to mazzari
Brinning in FDB, a coach with zero experience from coaching any of the huge clubs in Europe (besides his “home-town-club”Ajax, where all the clubs teams play in the same way 4-3-3, which again makes is quite easy for any coach to come in and coach), without any knowledge about Italian football, not as a coach in Italy neither as a player there, plus a man who doesn’t even know the langue in which he’s going to coach in and meant to get his ideas and messages throw with -was maybe the biggest mistake I’ve ever seen at Inter, even bigger than the strange Strammacconi-appointment!!!
When you add to this all, that it’s normal to see a reaction from the players when a new coach arrives – they pull them selfs together and give an extra effort in the 3-4 games after the new coach arrives, then seeing our team playing like this with no dissire, no determination and no idea on how to play, makes me loose all hope and faith in FDB!!!
I’m not a man who normally cries; “sack the coach” because of a couple of defeats but when the hole picture looks like this, then I reallly don’t see any other way farward for our club than to get ride of the “experiment “De Boer and get in quality coach like Capello, Blanc or even Pirandello (even thoughI don’t see him as just as good as the two others, he still will be better that FDB!)
Stop the bullshit Casperv.
STFU man
Descendant of Hitler? (Joke)
What? Me? I don’t hate anyone just say that DE Boer might be talented but even Spurs opted not to sign him and Southampton if I’m not wrong because of lack of experience, but we just throw him in front of the wolves 12days before season start!
I always suggest Capello..But let’s just sit and wait. Actually I already doubt his quality. It’s Thohir idea to bring total football in Italia…Well, let’s just wait. If it’s good then we stick with him..
You are wrong . Thohir ‘s idea is to lower the salary. He knows nothing about this sport.
Actually he said he likes the. 4-2-3-1 system and wants to focus on youngsters…
There’s no such thing nowa days called total football it was back in the 70 I guess it was played… besides if he wanted us to play 4-3-3 and start developing youngsters why didn’t he just go for Di Francesco in stead?
