After Roma-Inter, Inter Channel interviewed Frank de Boer
“We didn’t deserve to lose this game, but we made too many errors, especially in the first half when we gave away too many chances to Roma. The attitude was good and in the second half it was the Inter I want to see. We were in control in the second half but a naive foul led to us conceding the goal for 2-1.”
“We must learn how to manage the 90 minutes better. If we reduce the number of errors we make, we’ll win more often. We were compact after the break and conceded fewer chances. Roma are a top side and if you make too many errors, it’s difficult to bring home three points. During the interval I told my players that we had to be less sloppy. We did that and there were no problems. We only need to improve on this aspect because the best opportunities for the opposition came from our mistakes. This happened partly because some players weren’t in top condition, like Joao Mario and Cristian Ansaldi.
The Dutchman then had a few comments to say about a few individual players: “As for Stefan Jovetic’s substitute appearance, he trained really well during the week and when a player shows me positive signals, it’s right that they get a chance to contribute to the team. Icardi worked really well for his team-mates and we didn’t cross the ball to him as well as we could have done.”

Obviously we deserved to lose because we lost, otherwise we would have won. We can’t always wait for the opposing team to score for us to start playing. Roma is a tough team and I was expecting this to be a tough game like Juve. This is just embarrassment right now. We are 9th on the table with Milan ahead of us, are you kidding me, and we are getting shitted on in the Europa League. This time last year we were 1st in the table and Juve were at the bottom but they ended up winning. Maybe we’ll end up turning things around like they did, it’s still early in the season but we need to get ourselves together and start winning games

We should have win in the EL against sparta and not humiliated (at least, if we use full starting xi players), but bad decision has been made, he kept our star for game against roma which we only had 40% to win. I hope they do as well but I don’t think FDB is doing the right choices right now. Do you think Inter being in 9th place and have teams like Chievo, Torino and Genoa above them is good? Yes we did, our defence looks horrible.. We started this season with 3-2-4 if I’m not mistaken, that’s very bad.. I can’t blame De Boer yet, but it is starting to look like he is not a coach for this league. Something like Luis Enrique with Roma. If we continue like this we won’t reach CL and that is unacceptable with the amount of money we invested this summer.

I really think the players don’t like FDB, for the way he punishes the players (kondo and brozo) to not listening to his orders, and there is no harmony. If you guys go to inters website and look at training photos no one is smiling, I don’t think this is a good sign. De boer has one good game and that was against juve. Inter still hasn’t had ONE a clean sheet or scored more than TWO goals in all their games. That is also another bad sign. FDB have the pressure on him now the next 5 games are crucial.

Mourinho was more stern with his players and still is. EVERYONE wants to play for him. Why? It’s the sole reason he doesn’t play favorites, that players of any skill level appreciate. You can’t blame the coach of mistakes the players make on the pitch. He’s not on the field; the issue is 1 out of 4 CB is actually good, 1 is mediocre, the other is terrible and the last one is hurt. Add in the fact that we don’t have capable wingbacks, and you can see why we are constantly exposed.
What needs to happen is to purchase a holding mid/CDM, another CB and 2 quality wingbacks, and change this dreadful formation which has been our achilles heel for 3 years. We should be playing a 3-4-1-2, or a 3-5-2(3-5-1-1 is fine also). There’s no need for 4 defenders when half the time there’s only 2 guys back, at least this way it will force all 3 defenders to stay back and man mark while the midfield tracks back.
There is way to much wing play, to many long balls from the back (which when you have capable midfielders that can move the ball should NEVER happen), and Icardi is constantly left isolated. I don’t blame him, in the 1st half his movements off the ball were non-existent, but the 2nd half he was trying to break free constantly but the ball never came to him. Medel as much as we all love him, is not capable of winning the ball in the air vs someone that’s almost 1 foot taller, we need someone stronger that can run and better in the air.
I have faith in Suning as they see what’s going on, and it’s quite evident that it’s not the coach (he can only select players that are given to him), and it’s the lack of quality in the roster.
We were lucky to only loose 1-2. It could have been 0-3 at halftime. Am sorry De Boer but playing with a high backline like that against speedy players like Salah is just suicide. Murillo had no chance. We were lucky he didn’t score on those chances he had. We could have just played with low defence and try to hit them on the counter. The most important thing was not to concede.

He is playing the same way against every team. His tactics are fine if he managed Barcelona. But not Serie A. You can’t play the same way against Roma away like you play at home to Palermo or Bologna.

De Boer certainly needs time but this kind of excuses will take us no where and stats shows that we almost always the first to concede. Change your approach to the start of the game and make your players dictate the play at the right time as these are the basic rules of possession based football.
Finally, every single manager after Mou is plagued by individual errors and that is the job of management/scouts to find mentally focus players to play and soak the big pressure of playing for our beloved Inter.
