For caps and one assist, that’s the business card of Theophilus Awua with Stefano Vecchi’s “primavera”.

Midfield, class of ’98 whose Inter loaned from Spezia last summer.

The speculation on him have started already, and a former England national team star John Fashanu had his say on the prospect: “I’ve been watching him in Abuja’s tournament where he has been named best player of the competition. I think he is the best prospect Nigeria sees in ages. We are talking about a natural bot-to-box player. He is not afraid to sacrifice on the pitch, I think that in Italy, at Inter, he can be very successful.”

To better understand of what kind of a prospect we are talking about, we report an interview of Spezia’a sports director Pietro Fusco to FcInter News.

Chief, how did you discover Awua?

He played very few time with us, after the last edition of Viareggio, Inter asked him on loan.

Inter had their eyes on him?

I think so

What kind of player is he?

He’s a natural box-to-box midfielder, a ball catcher mostly, he can make an important grow.

Would you like to compare him with somebody?

He reminds me on De Rossi, but more athletic.

Inter will pay 2 milion of euro if they wants to ransom him, are this figures correct?

Yes, they are

Did Inter beat any competition for Awua?

Our own competition, we wanted to keep him on our team, but we were unsure on his employment in the first team, so Inter’s Primavera were the right choice for everybody.

Will Inter ransom Awua?

We didn’t have the chance to speak with them, but the season has just started and we should leave this conversation a part for now and let Awua play his football, June is far away.
