Simeone

Diego Simeone could join Inter upon the expiration of his contract with Atlético Madrid in the summer of 2018, according to Spanish daily AS.

Vice-president Javier Zanetti is trying to convince his former teammate and good friend to return to coach at the club with which he won the UEFA Cup in 1998 as a player.

Newly-appointed Stefano Pioli also has a contract until 2018 and so a coaching change could prove both timely and convenient for Inter.

Next season will be the first in which Los Colchoneros will play in their new stadium, and Simeone clearly intends to lead his Atléti project for at least another year.

At the end of 2017/18, the Argentine will review the situation and may well opt to take on a new challenge. Meanwhile, Inter are waiting so see how the story unfolds. Cholo’s comeback remains a dream, though it might just become a reality.
