Having announced the arrival of club legend Rogério Ceni as coach, São Paulo will now seek to improve their squad ahead of the 2017 season.

With ‘O Mito’ on the bench, the Paulista team may have gained an advantage in the race to sign Felipe Melo, with Flamengo also reportedly interested in the midfielder.

The 33-year-old has been a target of the Morumbi side for a long time; however, so far they have been unable to complete a deal.

Melo’s friendship with the aforementioned Ceni could play a decisive role in where the ex-Galatasaray enforcer plays his football next year.
