Stefano Pioli spoke to the microphones of Sky in the post-match Inter-Fiorentina:
“We had many opportunities to score before the fourth goal. Fiorentina have kept their players in the field of quality. The suffering helps us grow. We have done so many positive things, we are working on others. The decline stems on many factors: The team needs trust, we must keep the team short, and occupy the field well. As soon as we stretch we are risking exposure in the defense.
“The balance comes from the work you do together on concepts and positions. It’s unthinkable not to give credit to a quality team like Fiorentina. In the second half, we could not hold possession in the midfield despite the numerical advantage. You have to find awareness and stay compact for 95 minutes, then the results will come. I removed Kondogbia because he was already booked and did not want to frustrate the referee. I inserted a technical player like Joao Mario to move the ball and give many solutions.”
“There is also a bit of fear in managing the advantages: We hold the ball longer and maintaining stamina becomes difficult. The win is important, we came from a bad game. 3-2 players were concerned, but we are working both on physical condition. There is so much for improvement and reach the point at which the players will manage to play well for 90 minutes. Zhang gave me a great impression: he spoke to me first and then to the team, with great clarity.”

at least I like the attitude the players are showing, we would need just to focus on the mentality side, on how to play safe when we are winning, how to counter attack on those moments.. instead of just passing the ball and make everyone run forward-
8 Goals in three matches and we conceded 6 goals in the same number of matches. Our biggest dilemma is the line between the midfield and defense.
Which is what Pioli said as well… he talkes about “keep the team together as one SHORT unite” and that is what our real problem is – our strikers and midfielders tends to forget to track back maybe because of being too tired…

Tired ? I think they’re just lazy. You can see that often with Kondo and Brozo. Well Kondo always seems tired and about to fall
Yes I know… they can’t be tired…. Laziness or not-givin-a-fuck could be the case! That’s also why I have stated many times that we should try and build a team with Italians and a few foreigners, because the Italians give a fuck, they feel proud to play for a huge club like Milan, Juve or Inter – a foreigner simply plays for us because of the money and could just as easily join someone else next summer!
Broso seems to be one that cares though unlike Kondogbia!
I enjoyed the match!
Fiorentina is a great team and fear got into the Inter players, but it was fantastic entertainment throughout the entire 90 mins. Much better than a 1-0 game where Inter dominated the whole game.
3 points against Fiorentina – Yes please!
Agree with you and this was also what the English speaking commentators said after the match – “THIS is what Italian football is about now a days”!
If we compare the biggest leagues in Europe the teams in the Italian league are scoring more goals than in the English league and aren’t far from the “Spanish-let´s -play´without-defense” league either!
Shitt fans all here. Very Very Demanding but without contribution. Fuck shitt. Win is not enough for you all
Demanding and not completely setified is two different things! I think most in here is really happy for the win but not happy that we couldn’t close the game with a 3-1lead and one more player on the pitch! With Serie A second most expensive troop, we are not satisfied with how the game turned but happy that we won!
Problem with a midfield with Brozo-Banega-Kondogbia/Mario is that no one is protecting our CB at all! With Medel he does that job but then we lose a bit in the attacking part instead..
I truly believe if we stick to Kondo and Brozo as our two DMs, we will get there. Kondo as the technique and physique, and Brozo has the stamina. But, Kondo needs to learn how to use his brain and Brozo needs to learn how to be more responsible, especially in the defensive phase. As for Medel, I loved seeing him as a CB…
Yeah I hope so but both cheats in the positioning and Kondogbia has only worked 100% in the defens a few times.. as soon as he is beaten he jogs after and don’t make a 100% run.. that’s a real problem..
I’m starting to give up on Kondogbia; how can a 23 year old boy run around at the pace of a 75 year old man? Technically he´s not good enough (he always needs 3-4 touches before passing the ball and even his passing ability is very limited). I know he hasn’t played much under FdB and may suffer from lack of self belief, but so did a great playing Broso which and see him know!!!
Kondogbia seems like a player suited for a smaller league where you get more time on the ball like the French one.
sort things out in the defense, again, sigh. the d’amb lamb preferred to keep his hair clean more than his position. and rano like made a 0% successful cross?? but he learned his best to keep handa from d’amb lamb unsteady position. at least rano was better last night to make miranda stay calm after his last groggy match pairing with murillo
Not sure I understand you.. but Ambros was really great yesterday my friend and Rano also played over average! They both did well but Miranda seemed lost the entire game!
yeah, he’s good at one natch, than lose himself for entire season. just what they always did last seasons as well
Wasted goal by joao
99% goal, and he gave the 1% LOL
True but he played really well beside the wasted scoring chance
Not happy at all. Fio with 10 men controlled us the second half. There is something wrong with this team. . .. J. MARIO is pure shit at the moment
J.Mario is an attacking player
no point in putting no DM and two AM
Inter won, got three precious points, climbed to better standings and kept CL dream alive, but you’re not happy at all? Seriously, something is wrong with you dude.
The game was a pure joy to watch. Even the live commentators confirmed that the game was entertaining the crowds as both sides shown great determinations and offensive plays. And don’t worry, this Pioli’s Inter will just get better and better by the time.
I am calm but I didn’t like the team in the second half. I will tell you why I am not happy. Any other big team in Europe will put the game to bed if they are leading 3-1 against 10 men. The game could easily finished 3-3 instead. It is more than obvious that there is something wrong when it comes to handling the whole game. Of course I am not happy because 3rd game in a row we can not constantly perform for 90 mins. This way we will never challenge for top spots. What worries me is that mentality of the team looks like mid table team.
Yes, but the game could have easily finished 6-3 as well. Patience guys! Time is required for the coach to implement his ideas and for the lads to build some confidence. At least we easily create chances and that was missing with De Boer and Mancini.
we are a mid table team right now anyway..
Rome wasn’t built in a day or even three weeks. To shape a winning mentality, it takes at least 3-6 months. So please be patient with Pioli’s Inter. Unless you want to start #PioliOut campaign very soon and repeat another year zero. And don’t forget, Inter defeated Fiorentina, the same team who humiliated us 1-4 last year at the same Giuseppe Meazza. For me, this Inter squad will only get better and better by the time goes on.
Before the goal miss Mario was great, passed calmly, dribbled his way around 3-4 defenders to give that pass to Mauro, which he also wasted.
Ehhh Mario?? He was superb when entering! He is MUCH better than Kondogbia at holding on to the ball and passing it around. Yes he didn’t score but he created much!
