Andrea Ranocchia

The Italian defender spoke to SKY’s microphones following Napoli’s routing of i nerazzurri Friday night at the San Paolo.

“Our approach was decisive. To go down two goals in Napoli can’t happen. We tried to fix it but we didn’t take advantage of the opportunities we had. Tomorrow we’ll review everything with the coach and try to put everything in order to improve. The scudetto race is a long one and although we are far from the top, the team has quality and we have to prove it.  We have to be more united and more cohesive. We’ve had a lot of games in a small amount of time but we can’t make that our alibi. We must improve with our balancing of the match. Losing here hurts, as Napoli are a direct competitor . but tomorrow we will work again.”

When asked on his positioning, Ranocchia said, “Pioli wanted us to double mark Insigne. I went to press him and Napoli got a ball away that they would eventually score on through Hamsik.”
