Both Inter and Sunderland are a few weeks away from closure on the Ricky Alvarez transfer saga. The Sunderland Echo report that despite the case being heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the final decision won’t be made until early next year. Should Sunderland lose the case, Inter will be in for 8 million.

I thought his transfer was 10.5 million? Also, I think Sunderland should have to pay all court and lawyer fees Inter accumulated throughout this process, it’s been nothing but a complete nuisance.
Pretty sure the agreement was for 8mil in £, not €, hence the discrepancy. Unfortunately in the intervening years those £ have lost some value relative to what they were, but it should still be around 9.5mil euros.
Also unfortunately, from what I understand Sunderland’s “extra punishment” is anticipated to be having to pay the money, but they will not get the player the money was supposed to be for. Sadly that doesn’t help us.
Would be nice if we got court fees. The punishment for reneging should be harsher, otherwise others may be encouraged to do the same… I mean hey, don’t feel like paying that big transfer fee? Just make up some BS reason why you shouldn’t. Then you get to wait 2 years to pay, no matter how wrong you are.
i agree with you totally but there should be an interest charge attached on top of the fee.
