Giovanni Malago, Zdenek Zeman, Luca Toni and Inter’s own Javier Zanetti are the winners of the “Andrea Fortunato Sports is Life” award organized by “Associazione Sportiva Fioravante Polito.” The award ceremony, sponsored by the National Olympic Committee, will be held Thursday at the Sala Giunta del Coni in the Foro Italico in Rome.
Dedicated to Andrea Fortunato, the ex-Juve player who unfortunately lost his battle with leukemia in 1995. The award aims to raise awareness of blood tests within the sport to better anticipate players’ fitness levels.
Among other winners are Antonio Giordano, director of the Sbarro Institute for Cancer Research and Molecular Medicine in Philadelphia, Gabriele Gravina, the president of Lega Pro and Antonio Percassi, president of Atalanta.
