Inter got their first away win since 21-Sep-16 against an injury ravaged Sassuolo. Candreva with his 3rd goal of the season was the star performer and deserved his goal for his constant running and havoc creating passes and crosses. Only blight in the victory was Melo’s sending off. Here are the ratings for the tie:
Samir Handanovic – 7: Absolutely fantastic save from that Defrel touch in the first and from that Sensi volley in the 2nd. Looks relaxed, in form and in control.
Danilo D’Ambrosio – 6.5: One of his best games for Inter. Made the most tackles, shut down plenty of attacks from their left wing didn’t make any major mistakes.
Joao Miranda – 6.5: Steady, strong and consistent. He organized us well as we slowly grew into the game. Cleared everyone’s mess when they were struggling.
Jeison Murillo – 6: Poor 1st half as he consistantly gave away both ball and chances. In the 2nd he was back to his old self and battled it out like it was 2015.
Cristian Ansaldi – 6,5: Attacked and defended well. It was difficult to get the ball from him. Slowly growing into his role and provided much needed solidity.
Marcelo Brozovic – 6: After that great Genoa performance, this was bit of a let down. He didn’t shoot well today but did the basics right and transitioned well.
Felipe Melo – 5,5: He bossed the midfield and didn’t let Sassuolo do anything centrally. Got sent off for 2 needless yellow cards that could be avoided. Typical.
Antonio Candreva – 7: Man of the match. Everything creative in the 1st half especially came from his feet. His hard work deserved the winning goal!
Joao Mario – 6,5: Classy with a nd without the ball. Held up play well when needed and took the fouls for the team. It’s a pity he will miss out vs Lazio
Ivan Perisic – 5,5: Certainly the worst performer today. He missed 3 chances that an in form Perisic would gobble up. Looked tired from kick off till the end.
Mauro Icardi – 5.5: Couldn’t get involved in our game and when he got a chance wasn’t clinical enough. Ran and closed down well but that’s all he did today.
Ever Banega – 5,5: He got 22 mins to show what he can do, but didn’t shine. His passes were good but the attackers couldn’t use them, needs more minutes.
Gabriel Barbosa – SV: Came on in injury time to a warm applause by the Curva, Great attitude! Needless yellow card but I’d like to believe it was to waste time.
Stefano Pioli – 6: The team continues to respond to Pioli. Apart from the last few minutes there was nothing to be unhappy about, Gabigol got minutes too!
Marco Di Bello – 6: He tried to let the game roll on and didn’t give any soft fouls. Booked players when it was necessary. He correctly sent Melo off as well.
Inter’s performance – 6,5: We carried over our mental strength from last week. Perfect set up and we looked calm and collected for 88 mins or so. Lets keep going!
