Gazzetta dello Sport report that Lucas Leiva will be the first Inter signing in January. The Brazilian will join on loan until the end of the season and there will be no clauses attached. The final details still need to be ironed out but Liverpool’s approval hours ago will speed negotiations up.

Lucas leiva is a mediocre player. The only good thing from this that he will come on dry loan. If we really still believe in top 3 this is not good signing but if we just want top 5 yes it is a temporary solution
If it will be a free loan, I’m good with the move. While not a brilliant player, Liverpool fans do appreciate him and we desperately need a defensive midfielder.
We really don’t. Medel is on his way from recovery, and Mr. $3m/year-in-trash (Melo) is still here. We have Brozo, Gnoukori, Jao Mario (if we want to start him and Ever at the same time, which we should), and K-Dog.
There is no need for a mediocre, under-sized DM.
Lucas Leiva is a warrior.. Not the best but a free lone I would not say no! Yes Medel is on he’s way back but beside him there is only Melo and Gnoukouri that is CDM and Melo is really close too move too Palmeiras. And when you say under-sized he is 179 cm and Medel 172 cm..
Medel will play as CB as per Pioli’s comments and Melo is on his way out of the team. Kondogbia is inconsistent and Leiva is good addition for a dry loan. Much smarter than Melo and Medel and better passer. I’m worry that he’s a bit slow and injury prone thou.
Pioli has plans for Medel in defense and when Melo is injured or suspended or even if he leaves, who will you play? Brozo, Gnoukouri, Joao Mario are all not defensive midfielders and Kondogbia is hardly one as well. Like I said, we need a true defensive midfielder.
Murrillo is just finding his last year’s form and benching him for Medel will be a grave mistake. Melo will be available in a game, and I highly doubt that he would walk before his contract expires.
What other dumb club would pay $3m/year for a useless bench warmer other than Inter?
We should aim for Schneiderlin. He’s younger and better. And that is only if we manage to sell K-dog …
Murillo would be either dropped in 4 at the back formation or work together with Medel when playing 3 at the back. Melo could also take a pay cut in order to move to a team where he would play full time. Schneiderlin is ofcourse better than Leiva, but is he available on a free loan? No. That is the problem, we need to make money in this transfer window, and buying Schneiderlin who will be overpriced is not a part of the solution.
That’s the case. MU is willing to sell Schneiderlin for 12-14m, and we might be able to sell K-dog for that price. I’m still a K-dog fan, but he is more box-to-box than DM to me, and for that position we have Jao Mario and Ever.
As for Murillo, he is 6 years younger than Medel, better Aerial ability, and has time on his side. If he’s playing well, he should not be dropped in favor of Medel.
Sadly him being 6 years younger and having time on his side doesn’t magically make him a better defender, he has been lackluster for some time now. If Medel is performing better, we should use him. Also, I doubt MU would let go of Schneiderlin for €12-14m and we would also have to find a buyer for Kondogbia. I mean, lets be realistic, this isn’t FIFA. This isn’t as simple as sell X get Y.
