With Mattia Perin suffering another long term injury, Genoa are on the look out for his replacement. Tuttomercatoweb report the Grifone are looking at Aston Villa’s Pierluigi Gollini and Cagliari’s Alessio Cragno, both of whom have been linked and watched by Inter. Sunderland’s Vito Mannone is another option.

Would be interesting if possible to get Gollini on a free transfer (?), lend him to Genoa until summer for an option at Perin. Once Perin is better and we know what will happen with Handanovic, either take back Gollini as a second GK or trade him for Perin + money.
Good Idea, still I´m getting worried over Perin’s fitness level; he only recently made his way back from a similar long-term injure that kept him away from going to the Euros last summer and now almost the same thing happens to him again on the other knee!
If he makes his way back and regains he former level we should take him, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Inter wouldn’t go for him because of the 2 extremely serious injuries!
Excactly, do we dare? Is he fragile or just really, really unlucky? I mean, how many keeper mess up their knee? Let alone both of them?
I think this is his third serious injury.
It’s the exact same injury in his other knee, cruciate ligament rupture, the only difference being how they happened. The first happened when he collided with a teammate, then continued to play, likely worsening the injury. The second happened during a series of diving saves, in which his constant stopping and starting movement likely caused the injury. As far as I know, it’s extremely rare (under 5%) for an athlete to experience this same injury in both legs, and equally as rare for it to be a recurring injury. As you said, we have to see how he comes back, but I’ll certainly be cautious of going for Perin over another GK due to these injuries!
The only one of them that could possibly be first keeper is Gollini.. And with that said I don’t think he is the class keeper that can step in too Handanovic gloves!
