According to Spanish media outlet AS, FC Barcelona are preparing a monster offer to blow all others out of the water in order to tie up Lionel Messi with the Catalan club.
AS claims that Barcelona are preparing an offer which would see Messi earn €40 million net per season, quoting a source close to the club stating that “the club has the ability to do it.”
Messi is deploying the same tactics he’s used before to force Barce into offering him a new, more lucrative contract. He did it a few years ago with Chelsea, and is now using Inter in the same fashion. Essentially intimidating Barcelona into offering him a new “mega deal” every few years by riding the rumors of him moving to said club. He followed Chelsea on social media, and I believe he even took a trip to London to further force rumors. I would not be surprised in the slightest that if there are any hold ups in his contract negotiation with Barce, Messi is found out to dinner in Milano with Moratti to help fuel the fires, and eventually force Barce’s hand into accepting any and all of his terms and conditions.
