Inter is working hard to lock Gary Medel in Milan. According to the latest rumors, Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio will meet with the entourage of the Chilean midfielder aiming to find an agreement for a two-year extension of his contract which expires on June 30th, 2018. The Pitbull’s salary is expected to rise from the current €3.5 million to €4.3. There are more performance related bonuses added in the new contract (about €4 million).

that is too much salary for a backup
But in the past I read that medel salary is 1,6 M not 3,5 M..
Considering the amount Icardi earns, it’s only natural everyone will ask a raise sooner or later… And a pretty much useful player like Medel isn’t an exception.
The management knows more than anyone who deserves a raise and who doesn’t.
At least, many pretty-much useless high-earners have departed already and others like Palacio, Rannochia, Jovetic and Banega (very likely) will definitely follow in the summer.
IMO – I say bring it on!
4.3? seriously?
I agree that we should lock down Medel, he is a useful player, but damn, even €3.5m is already a big salary, €4.3m is massive.
Especially considering he will likely be a squad player next season rather than first 11.
